What does this minimum and maximum duration of IGNOU course mean?

GS
Govind Sharma Posted On : November 1st, 2022
BA from Indira Gandhi National Open university (IGNOU)

The minimum duration of an IGNOU course accounts for the minimum period you have to spend on a course to get a degree. The maximum duration is the maximum time period you can take to complete a program in order to get a degree.

Because of long distance learning, there are many people who might not complete the course within the minimum period. For them the maximum duration helps in completing the pending assignments and exams without affecting the work they are doing alongside.

For example, the MCA Course in IGNOU is for 3 years. This means to get a degree you have to give at least 3 years. If you don’t complete 3 years you will not get a degree. This is the minimum duration.

Now for the same program, MCA, IGNOU gives you a maximum of 6 years. This means you can take 6 years to complete your assignments and give all exams. This is the maximum duration.

Is CSE at NIT Srinagar a good option?

NS
Nikhil Singh Sodi Posted On : September 20th, 2023
Computer Science Engineer from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (2018)

If you are considering NIT Srinagar for CSE, here are a few things you should know-

  1. CSE students face no trouble because of attendance shortage.
  2. You’ll be eligible for a good number of companies visiting the campus during the placement season.
  3. The permanent teachers are good but less in number.
  4. Though the teachers are good, you’ll have to heavily depend on self-study.
  5. This department puts minimum academic pressure on students. The curriculum is also manageable.

Here are a few points about NIT Srinagar in general-

  1. Srinagar will allow you to enjoy the beauty of nature. You’ll lack access to malls and cinema halls, but the mesmerizing weather will be worth everything. The weather remains cold for 7 to 8 months of the year.
  2. You can go for a stroll or play sports on the banks of Dal Lake.
  3. There’s unfortunately, corruption in the college administrative and management units.
  4. The hostels have WiFi and ultra-high-speed broadband lines.
  5. The mess food isn’t great, and vegetarians/Jains have very limited food options, both inside and outside the campus.
  6. There are holidays due to frequent strikes, ‘bandhs’ and curfews.
  7. The number of girls on campus is quite low.

You won’t be offered a typical college experience at NIT Srinagar. But this place will teach you a lot. Academically, you’ll be on your own. But for a stress-free campus life, you can consider this college.

How are the hostels like at NIT Silchar? Do they have single occupancy for mtech students?

DB
Devdutta Bose Posted On : August 25th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology Silchar (2019)

NIT Silchar has 9 boys and 3 girls hostels, along with separate hostels for married PG students and foreign students. It also has a 1000-capacity boys hostel which is newly constructed. The hostel and campus life of NIT Silchar are top notch. Old hostels like H1 need more renovation. But overall, hostel rooms are spacious and well maintained, especially the new ones. But there is a scope for more improvements. Water and electricity is available round the clock. H-6 and -7 have playgrounds within their premises. The hostels organize cultural events and festive celebrations on a regular basis. They are provided with proper security.

All the hostels have a big common room with TV and DTH connection. Hostellers play TT, carom and other indoor games over there. All hostels have LAN for unlimited usage. Internet speed is good as well.

Girls hostels are provided with separate Gymnasium. Boys go to the Central Gym at the Sports Center. A canteen cum stationary shop is provided in all hostels. The mess food is not good, it's bearable at best.

M.Tech students are allotted hostel-8. It is one of the best hostels with good and spacious rooms. Both LAN and wifi facilities are available. Both single and double occupancy rooms are there in this hostel. Even the double occupancy rooms are good.

Overall, NIT Silchar has good hostel facilities.

How many days will it take to refund my registration fee for UPSEE/AKTU counseling?

DC
Devesh Chaudhary Posted On : November 7th, 2022
Engineer at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited

The registration fee is returned usually after the 5th round. If you are facing some problems and still haven't received a refund, contact them via mail. Usually, two email ids are mentioned so it's recommended you contact both.

Write down the issue you are facing along with some of your basic details like Admission Number, Roll No., DOB, father's name, etc. After a wait of 2 to 3 days, your counseling fees will have been refunded successfully in the same account with which you paid the registration fees. You only need to remember to send the mail after the 5th round only.

Is it worth it to do engineering physics from NIT Calicut?

AP
Akanksha Pandey Posted On : March 24th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2019)

You would first decide whether it is a good option to do Engineering Physics, then no matter whichever college you choose. It is important that you know a few details before making a final decision about college.

About the course:

  • Engineering Physics is a 4-year programme whose course commences in the first year and for three years you will study the same structure as of BSc-Physics.
  • It includes Quantum Mechanics, Nuclear Physics, etc. But in Engineering Physics practical knowledge is given more importance which will help you gaining extermination knowledge.

Placements:

  • A career after Engineering Physics is not promising. You cannot expect to get a place on campus with an Engineering Physics degree.
  • There are not many companies that have the Engineering Physics job requirement.
  • Most of the companies have different recruitment processes which cannot be done on-campus, except government firms like DRDO, BARC, etc.

You should not lose hope as college faculties and alumni help students in getting placed by identifying your interest.

Scope:

  • Some students after completing Engineering Physics go for an MSc course and get into research and join IITs or institutes such as BARC.
  • To get good opportunities you have to work hard and keep taking GRE, GATE, and other exams to clear it.
  • If you do not want to go for research, then you can join a non-engineering job or can go for TFI etc.

Therefore, if you have an interest in Engineering Physics and ready to work hard then go for it. It will surely pay you well. Most of the college faculties also help students in getting placed, so do not worry much about it.
