What is something that I'll benefit from most in IIT Kharagpur compared to other IITs?

AC
Anumita Chatterjee Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK)

One thing that you will benefit from the most by studying at IIT Kharagpur is that you will learn to survive despite all the challenges thrown at you.

Firstly, its location disadvantage poses many problems like traveling long distances for food, shopping or AC hostel rooms. However, all this will seem meaningless once to develop deep bonds with your peers and end up making friends for life. You will start finding happiness in just Maggie and chai and won’t need lavish food dates to make you happy. Moreover, your personal and communication skills will develop considerably. Befriend your seniors and join societies that promote extracurriculars and you will experience a fun-filled campus life.

All this will prepare you for real-life challenges and you will be ready to face the world without the armor of the Institute.

Another distinguishing feature of IIT Kharagpur is no restrictions on data usage, LAN bans, or hostel curfew, unlike other IITs.

What should be my CGPA in 1st year to change my course to CSE in IIT Madras?

AS
Arati Sinha Posted On : July 27th, 2022
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

For CSE, you will need a CGPA of above 9. Naturally, the required CGPA varies each year, depending on competition, seat availability, etc. CSE is the most sought-after, so the CGPA requirement usually stays high. There are also other additional rules regarding branch changes. IIT Madras allows a maximum change of 10% in both branches.

What is your review of Vel Tech Dr. RR and Dr. SR Technical University, Chennai?

RJ
Rakhi Jindal Posted On : September 10th, 2021
Studied B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Vel Tech University (2013)

A few of my friends graduated from VTU and here are a few tips for you. The university was growing then while he was studying and was struggling to set up its name.

Following points is brief insight into VTU:

  1. Few professors in VTU are really good in terms of delivering knowledge. A group of scientists is hired primarily for scientific research. They are doing quite good work in terms of quality scientific papers.
  2. The university, in general, has all the facilities in terms of academics as well as extra-curricular. It has developed well-equipped labs, trained technicians, workshops, and design labs (supported by Dassault System France, NI, etc).
  3. A newly developed open theatre is available for students to enjoy cultural functions.
  4. VTU has 5 hostels for boys and 1 hostel for girls. The rooms are equipped with AC and well-maintained.
  5. It has its postal service, medical service, confectionery stores, bus service, etc needed for a good campus.

VTU is in no way better than IIT Delhi or IIT Madras if compared, however, the environment is great.

Safety and Fire Engineering, Naval Arch, and Ship Building are the best branches of CUSAT. These branches are unique and are offered only at a few locations across the country. CUSAT placement for these branches is pretty good. The average CTC for these branches is around INR 7-10 LPA

Other than these, non-core branches like CSE, IT, and ECE also have good placement records.

Which one is better, IIT Ropar or IIT Indore?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : June 17th, 2023

IIT Indore is a much better choice than IIT Ropar and I have supported my opinion by stating some valid points below

  • IIT Indore has a 500+ acres campus with the best infrastructure and facilities. The sports complex is also under construction and many more things are coming.
  • IIT Indore has an excellent placement scenario; this year, the highest CTC stood at INR 56 LPA. Top recruiters for the final placements included Microsoft, Zomato, Amazon, Capgemini, Qualcomm, etc. Excellent internship opportunities are also provided by big shots like Amazon, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, etc.
  • IIT Indore's annual fest FLUXUS has welcomed stars like Julia Bliss, Miss Tara from Sunburn Campus, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Farhan Akhtar. It is indeed central India’s largest college fest.
  • IIT Indore has a rich coding culture and many students are regular representatives at the OLYMPICS of programming, ACM ICPC.
  • You will find every student engaged in research work here. Even the UG students are motivated to do research and some of them work under a PhD guy or a professor, helping them in their projects.
  • The new IIT welcomes new ideas from its students so you will experience a sense of freedom here.
  • The entrepreneurship cell gives you the opportunity to think uniquely and implement your ideas and get them funded.

Lastly, the food here is bliss!
