NIT Trichy is a really good college when it comes to most NITs. But, you will only get admission through JEE Main. You will definitely have to score well if you plan to secure admission here.
The cut-offs for NIT Trichy in CSE are as follows:
Categories | Male | Female
Home State | Other state | Home State | Other state
General | 5235 | 1373 | 4075 | 2371 |
SC | 1300 | 138 | 1435 | 420 |
OBC | 2165 | 357 | 4085 | 1060 |
EWS | 2068 | 165 | 2489 | 305 |
You will have to do your best and strive a little hard in order to secure your seat. Getting into core branches is quite tough especially for branches like ECE and mechanical. As long as you meet the above cut-offs, you should be good to go. Analyze your paper well, set a dedicated schedule and at the end, you will surely be able to crack the JEE.
Having completed my B.E. in ECE from BITS Hyderabad, I find myself eligible to answer your query.
The average package for B.E. in ECE is close to 20.5 LPA, and the median package is close to 18.6 LPA. The department has a good faculty. Some of the teachers don’t teach very well, but they are very supportive. The department offers all the necessary facilities and opportunities.
ECE is the second most sought after branch at BITS. You can consider pursuing your B.E. ECE from BITS Hyderabad.
All three colleges namely, IIIT Delhi, NSIT, and DTU are excellent options for CSE. However, you might want to consider the following points before making the final decision
So choose wisely based on your priorities!
No, it's certainly not a wise decision to pursue an MTech after completing BTech from NIT Trichy. The courses and the approach are similar, giving you no newer perspectives and wasting 2 years as well as the money spent. A better alternative is to go for an MS or Ph.D. abroad instead. That will be the true utilization of your money, knowledge, and time.
However, if you are hesitant about going abroad, an MBA from an Indian B school is also a great option.
An MTech in IIT should only be considered if you have a low CGPA and have no project achievement up your sleeve. The MTech course will give you a second chance to improve your grades and work well on projects improving your profile as a whole. This will help you open better Ph.D. options. But if you are not planning to do one, then MTech is again of no use.

After completing the degree, you can also opt for higher studies and go for research. The campus and the faculty members will help you with your project, thesis, presentations, etc.
If you want to sit for the placement drive, you can do it as well. The Training and Placement camp of the college will help you through and through. Some of the recruiting companies include Schlumberger Limited, GlaxoSmithKline, NTPC, GAIL, CIL, ONGC, Piramal Healthcare Limited, etc.
IIT Madras has a great Mechanical Engineering branch. The departmental lab and workshop are well-equipped with cutting-edge instruments. IIT Madras Mechanical dept. has a well-experienced faculty pool. Many faculty members are actively pursuing research projects.
IIT Madras placements are good for Mechanical Engineering. Around 85% of students get placed from the branch. The average CTC received by the students of the branch is around INR 12 LPA.
The decision should be completely based on your interests. It is always better to choose a course that has ample opportunities; otherwise, you will end up jobless. You have to maintain a good CGPA to get a placement here since the competition level is very high. BITS Pilani is comparatively better at academics and placement support than BITS, Goa, or Hyderabad.
When it comes to the selection of the course, Electronics and Instrumentation are a bit difficult for scoring a good CGPA. After this course, you are open to both CSE and EEE fields for your higher studies (based on the electives you have selected).
CSE is comparatively better, which opens up high opportunities and BITS across India provides placement support for students with good CGPA
So, choose wisely based on your interests.
The preference should be firstly based on the branch and not on the colleges. Opt for the college where you get the branch of your choice. It's not college that matters but rather it's the branch. If you get the branch of your choice, you will be more likely to study that well and attain a successful future.
Categories | CSE at GEC Goa | EEE at NIT Goa |
Course Fee | 2.9 lakh | 5.38 lakh |
Highest CTC | 24 LPA | 18-19 LPA |
Average CTC | 12 LPA | 11 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Accenture, Wipro, TCS, HP, etc. | Infosys, Adobe, Capgemini, L&T, etc. |
If you think that you will take EEE in NIT Goa and then change the branch to CSE, then it's nearly impossible. There are high cut offs for changing the branch and it happens after following a certain set of rules that is not possible. So choose wisely as your career depends on it.
