The B.Tech Chemical program at VNIT offers a good faculty and decent placements.
The Chemical department performs really well in competitive exams like GATE, GRE etc. As for placements, both core and non core companies bring job offers. The list of recruiters includes core companies like Reliance, Exxon mobil and L&T limited, and non-core companies like fidelity, GEP, Quantiphi and ZS associates. All the visiting companies are highly reputed.
Apart from the names already mentioned, Godrej Chemicals, Pidilite, Jubilant, Reliance Petrochemicals, Reliance Industries, etc. also visit the campus during placement season.
However, the Chemical Department suffers from a few drawbacks. These are the non-working labs, lack of transparency in case of feedback, and too much authority.
In Spite of these shortcomings, the Chemical department of VNIT Nagpur is good. You’ll be offered decent facilities and placement during your B.Tech Chemical from this college.
The reason why Architecture students aren’t placed in non core jobs is because they don’t usually sit for them. Apart from that, no Architecture firms visit the campus for placements. Some Architecture students try for off campus jobs in their domain, while others start their own firm and do business.
Thus, mostly Architecture students either approach companies on their own, or become entrepreneurs.
You can manage your M.Tech fees at VNIT Nagpur, or any of the CFTIs.
MHRD gives a good stipend to GATE qualified students. This amount is Rs. 12,500 per month. At VNIT, your stipend will be deposited every month in your bank account.

VNIT Nagpur, like other NITs, is an Institute of National Importance.
It is located in Nagpur, so you can easily access all the basic facilities from there. But as far as campus facilities are concerned, they are very poor.
Both the college canteens available for Engineering students are kept in an unhygienic condition. Only a few of the menu items are actually available, and this is the situation at all times. A single playground is available for all the college students. So during inter-NIT practices, one can not possibly play one’s favorite sports over there.
The Badminton and TT courts however, are quite well developed. Other than that, the college campus is well maintained and covered in greenery. The Health Center within the campus is open for students, without any extra charges. An ambulance is also provided by the college in the health center. The maintenance fee for the center is included within the college fee.
In spite of the various shortcomings, you’ll enjoy your time at VNIT, especially the hostel life.
I am a student of B.Tech Mechanical at VNIT Nagpur, so I can’t tell you anything about the Mechanical at SVNIT.
VNIT has a good reputation for its Mechanical. Most of the renowned alumni of our college are from this branch. Here’s a few of their names- Dr. Dinesh Keskar (President of Boeing India and VP of Boeing International Trading), Ashish Saraf (Vice President at Airbus), Hemant Karkare, Satyendra Pakhale and Sanjay Joshi. The faculty for Mechanical is good, and the department offers good lab facilities as well. The senior- junior interaction is also good at the department.
Though I do not know much about SVNIT, I expect that its Mechanical department must be at par with the one at VNIT. Do a thorough research before deciding between either of the colleges.
VNIT Nagpur has four girls’ hostels in total- Girls’ Hostel Old, Hostel 10, Girls’ Hostel New and Kalpana Chawla Hostel.

In reality, VNIT Nagpur does not stand up to its reputation. Being a student of Metallurgy at VNIT, I can shed some light on the life of students in my department-
Based on my experience, I would say that the life of metallurgy students isn’t good at VNIT Nagpur.
VNIT Nagpur has one of the best Metallurgy Departments in India. The college offers a good campus, and Nagpur is a pleasant city to live in.
The department faculty is good, and labs are well-equipped. The problem lies in the branch, and not the college. The requirement of metallurgists is low in India. Because of this, the scenario is poor for core metallurgy placements.
Tata Steel and JSW do not recruit B.Tech Metallurgy students from VNIT. However, non core companies come in and fill the gap. Brands like Capgemini, L&T Infotech, etc. give equal opportunities to B.Tech Metallurgy students.
VNIT Nagpur offers very few core placements in Metallurgy. However, it offers a decent faculty and other facilities to its B.Tech Metallurgy students.
In comparison to MNNIT, MANIT and other colleges with similar cutoffs, VNIT Nagpur is better for B.Tech Electrical.
The Electrical faculty of VNIT consists of highly experienced teachers. The course curriculum is well defined, and contains one Electronics subject for every semester. The department labs are well equipped for use.
The department records good placements, and brands like Siemens, Reliance, Bajaj, Pepsico, SunPharma, etc. visit for recruiting B.Tech EEE students. Sometimes, PSUs also visit the department for placements.Core companies offer around 6 LPA and PSUs offer around 17 LPA (including allowances) to B.Tech EEEstudents. Many IT companies visiting the campus are open for EEE students.
The campus life and college environment are good, and various events take place throughout the year. There are numerous clubs on campus.
Thus, VNIT Nagpur is a good option for B.Tech EEE.
