What are the chances of getting a job in Dubai post an MBA from SPJIMR Mumbai? What is the kind of profiles students from SPJIMR get (in Dubai)?

SJ
Sakshi Jha Posted On : March 13th, 2023
MBA Marketing, S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (2018)

Your skill set is the most important factor that determines your employability in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. This skill set is something that you can develop over time with experience.

Keep in mind that there are very few opportunities for freshers from SPJIMR post an MBA, although IIM-K is a separate case. If you are a Keralite or a Malayali, the UAE may be another option to consider.

Recruiters in the GCC region will always prefer someone who knows Arabic, French, or other foreign languages. This is something that you can work on and improve over time.

After a few years of solid work experience, your chances of getting a job in the GCC region are higher. However, keep in mind that recruiters have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to hiring, especially for jobs that require cheap labor from Asian countries.

In the Middle East, your experience matters a lot, as well as your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You need to be able to adapt quickly and work efficiently to succeed.

It's important to note that Western nationalities also have an edge in the Gulf job market. If a company has the option to choose between a Marketing person with similar skill sets, an average-looking Indian guy, and a Western-style icon with a model-like personality, they will most likely choose the latter. This is because most jobs in the Gulf require excellent communication skills, a little bit of relevant experience, and a Driving License.

What will my life be like in 10 years if I get an MBA in marketing or finance from SIBM/SIIB, Pune?

RP
Rishabh Pathak Posted On : June 8th, 2021
MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (2017)

By understanding the perspective of your question, there shall not be a huge change if you only get an MBA done. The thing that determines it is the choices you are going to make like the firm you choose to work in, your expected salary or location or role, the work environment, and various other choices.

In 10 years, if you continue working hard, then you will probably have made 2 or 5 years of promotion. You can also simultaneously expect a major salary hike.

However, considering several drawbacks such as home loans, personal expenses, family expenditure, annual vacations, and fee structure of institutions, you are expected to live a very grounded life.

  1. You should be sure enough about what you are passionate about during pursuing MBA.
  2. Join a job sector that can lead you to a good state.
  3. If necessary, you should also build an alternate income for other essential factors.
  4. You should also begin pro-bono consulting during the weekends.
  5. You can also consult a startup or can choose to become a mentor or adviser or helper too.

Thus, your life 10 years from now will not however result only if you particularly get an MBA from a B-school, but will take into account the choices you have made, and the hard work you were to undertake.

What's the difference between TAPMI core pgdm and bkfs?

VM
Vihan Manjunath Posted On : August 28th, 2020
PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2016)

The difference between PGDM and PGDM-BKFS is that PGDM is the general MBA program and the course curriculum comprises all fundamental and cross-sectional areas of management while the course curriculum of PGDM-BKFS is tailor-made for Finance. In the first year for PGDM students are required to study various management-related subjects like Marketing, Finance, HR, and Operation. However, the BKFS course only includes Finance related topics.

TAPMI offers good infrastructure for BKFS. The institute has the largest state-of-arts finance lab in the country with 16 Bloomberg terminals. TAPMI also offers a unique Student Managed Investment Course (SMIC) for the finance stream in which BKFS students work in teams and each team has a mentor from industry currently working in the BFSI Sector. Also, unlike the traditional internship that PGDM students go through the BFS cohort had a two-month study tour in Bombay Stock Exchange where the students had their live projects.

Is doing an MBA in DG Vaishnav College good or not?

TR
Tanuja Reddy, Posted On : November 18th, 2021
studied at DG Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam (2018)

Like any other college, DG Vaishnav College also has some pros and cons. Let me mention these, which will help you make an informed decision.

Pros:

  • The infrastructure is really good with classrooms having proper light and ventilation.
  • There are individual lockers, a smartboard TV, clean restrooms, sick rooms, etc.
  • The MBA department has a dedicated library and computer lab with a good internet connection.
  • Outbound Training is conducted for 1st year MBA students to places like Yelagiri, Yercaud, Mahabalipuram, etc. for 3 or 4 days.
  • Industrial visits, guest lectures, foreign educational tours are also conducted.
  • You will receive invitations from many inter-college events.
  • Placements are good and provide enough exposure.

Cons:

  • The students are mostly freshers. 5-10 students have quality work experience.
  • Faculties are not dependable. You have to self-study.
  • Too much focus is put on extracurricular activities.
  • They conduct 4 major events in one academic year. Due to this, classes are usually canceled.
  • Almost school-like discipline.
  • The library is accessible only during exams.
  • Most of the recruiters will be from the BFSI sector and they recruit mostly for marketing and sales positions.

As it is located in central Chennai, it is well connected by buses. The nearest metro is Anna Nagar East. The fees are average compared to other top MBA colleges in Chennai. Some short-term certificate courses like Tally, Excel, etc. are also conducted.
