To draw a comparison between CS at NIT Jalandhar and EE at MNIT Jaipur, let’s discuss the various factors below:
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of MNIT is slightly better than that of NIT Jalandhar. MNITs campus has the largest lecture theater complex in the whole of Asia. NIT's campus is away from the main city but it is also beautiful with a soothing ambiance.
Placement: Because of its location NIT Jalandhar faces a few drawbacks in the case of placements.
The conclusion is as follows:
If you prefer a future in the private sector, NIT is better for you. But if you are interested in Electrical MNIT is a good option.
If you are a coding freak, then CS at NIT Jalandhar is a better option.
If you want a job in Civil Services, then EE at MNIT is better than CSE at NIT Jalandhar.
If you want a better college and campus life then MNIT is a better option.
So CS at any college is a good choice but most importantly what matters is what you want to pursue actually.
Instead of presenting stats, I will talk about the ground reality placements for this branch.
There are limited job opportunities in the core sector for Metallurgy students. Due to a lack of options during placement season, 9-pointers too end up in non-core sectors. Even GATE offers limited job opportunities. More than often, even 2-digit rank holders fail to get a call from PSUs.
But this branch is good for a career in research. You’ll have access to world-class facilities at labs like Material Research Center (MRC). Other than that, the Top 5 students from Metallurgy receive two-year research scholarships from the Ministry of Steel.
Maintaining a high CGPA is quite easy for B.Tech Metallurgy students of MNIT. These grades are important while applying for an MS at reputed universities.
Metallurgy from MNIT Jaipur is a good choice for future researchers. In terms of campus placements though, it's not a good choice.
Both these institutes carry the NIT tag, so they have equal brand value. I don’t know much about the ground reality at MNNIT. However, ranking wise, MNIT is surely ahead of it.
MNIT Jaipur offers one of the best faculties and topnotch placements. Besides that, the college has improved its infrastructure manifold. Here are some highlights on the infrastructural facilities at MNIT-
It’s modern infrastructure, top-notch faculty, and high placements have resulted in making MNIT a top engineering college.
Most toppers give initial preference to NIT Allahabad, then consider MNIT Jaipur and NIT Rourkela as the second and third options, respectively. These three institutes are renowned for providing quality education, experienced scholars, and placement support.
NIT Allahabad especially for CS, ranks higher than MNIP Jaipur and NIT Rourkela
You’ll find ample students at MNIT Jaipur who wanted to pursue CS but ended up in Metallurgy. This happens because of low JEE Mains rank or wrong choice filling.
You can maintain good grades and simultaneously practice coding to secure a good IT job. While some IT companies are open exclusively to CSE and ECE students, others give equal opportunity to all the branches. Metallurgy at MNIT doesn’t offer good core placements, so its students mostly end up in non core jobs.
You can definitely take up Metallurgy at MNIT and work on your coding skills side by side.
It's tough to choose between MNIT Jaipur Civil, NIT Hammirpur ECE, EE, or NIT Kurukshetra EE. The answer depends on your interests alone. However here are a few things you would like to consider
Ultimately, the final decision depends on your inclinations and future prospects so choose wisely.
Both MNIT and NIT Hamirpur are reputed institutes in India. Every coin has two sides, so you need to choose your path wisely at this point; otherwise, you will regret it throughout your life. Priority should be given to your interest in the subject. Now let's talk about the colleges.
MNIT Jaipur
NIT Hamirpur
Therefore, NIT Hamirpur is a better choice than MNIT
I personally believe that the upcoming future will be a more tech-savvy and digital world. So, going for CSE/IT is an evergreen choice. And is better than metallurgy engineering.
If there is no particular interest and just want a decent job in the future then choose CSE at IIIT Vadodara.
However, on the other hand, IIIT Kota is facing too many issues from faculties.
Hence if you are getting IIIT Kota CSE then you might also be getting some other good NITs and IIITs prefer them, else you will regret it if you are willing to achieve something bigger in life.
Although both programs are offered by prestigious institutes, I prefer CSE at MNIT to electrical at IIT Mandi. Considering only the branches it’s not a brainer that CSE offers much better placement opportunities than Electrical. I am not saying IIT Mandi placements are not good, it's just that they cannot be compared to MNNIT CSE placements.
I would suggest that you go for CSE at MNNIT rather than Electrical at IIT Mandi. Yes, you will miss the much coveted IIT tag but trading it with an NIT tag, better college life, and excellent placement opportunities is not a bad deal right? The moment you sit for placements and start receiving excellent packages in contrast to your counterpart electricals, you will realize how wise your decision to choose CSE was.
