My friend was in the second batch of this course. She was hesitant initially as the course was relatively new and everyone was against her idea of taking it. She believed that everything is new initially and someone has to take it to make it old.
India has a very limited number of design colleges and it’s quite difficult to make it into one. The limited options and the huge crowd makes the completion tougher.
Ultimately, bear in mind the fact that this course is new and it will take years for its credibility to reflect.
An MBA from SRCC GBO is better than DTU DSM. My friend was a student of S.R.C.C. G.B.O and shared a few pros and cons of the program she experienced throughout her program.
Pros:
Cons:
The only thing I can comment on about DTU DSM is that the crowd quality is poor because of low cutoffs. Placements-wise too, DTU DSM takes the lead while SRCC takes the backseat.
DTU has been recording excellent placement over the past few years. DTU Placements 2022 received 2459 offers. Students received 14 international offers of more than INR 1 CPA.
DTU's highest package was recorded at INR 1.8 CPA whereas the average package stood at INR 15.16 LPA. In all, 403 recruiters participated in DTU Placements 2022, the top firms being Samsung, Instabase, Atlassian, Sprinklr, Amazon, Alphonso, Salesforce, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.
As for the branch-wise statistics, the table below will guide you:

Apart from the above statistics here are a few points to know about the placement scenario at DTU
Overall, the placements at DTU are great and out of the branches you mentioned, IT takes the lead followed by ECE and CE.
The Electrical Engineering branch of DTU has a wide scope in terms of academics as well as placements. Students are exposed to a wide range of future prospects and the opportunities are plentiful.
You will be highly disappointed with the academic environment here. The curriculum is poorly structured, obsolete, and irrelevant to industrial needs. The faculty is not passionate about teaching and tends to deliver bookish concepts only. The classes conducted are boring, the students do last-minute mugging up for concepts and get low scores.
Placements-wide, DTU will not disappoint you much. Decent companies come and hire those with decent grades. Some core companies also make great offers. Then again, EE placements cannot be compared to CS or IT placements.
As far as internships are concerned, not even a single core company offers internships to EE students. Usually, coding companies like Amazon and Directl offer internships but EE students hardly are able to secure one.
Eventually, if you are an EE student, you will get placed in core/non-tech companies. Some even go for PSUs or pursue MBA or MS. Remember that the growth of students in EE is more than those in the IT sector. You will need patience and dedication to stay in this branch and reap the benefits in the long run.
It is difficult to determine the exact percentile required to get into NSIT or DTUs. Here is a comprehensive table of cutoff ranks of general category students of DTU and NSUT.

The minimum percentile to get into NSIT (HS) is around 94.01228357-94.96737888 while NSIT (OS) is 98.52824811-98.99673561. Similarly, the minimum percentile to get into DTU (HS) is 94.01228357-94.96737888 while DTU (OS) is 98.52824811-98.99673561.
The perfect description of the Electrical and Electronics branch at DTU is the Jack of all grades and Master of none. The branch covers everything including EC, EE, CS, IT, and SE yet you end up with nothing in your hands. The worst part is that teachers don’t give enough marks in this branch. Even hard workers get average grades.
The same is the case with recruiters. They consider EEE students the jack of all trades but master of none. All the companies prefer EE and EC, CS and IT but EEE students are rarely given preference.
Although there is harmony among the batchmates of this branch, sometimes you might face challenges so keep all these things in mind before going for it.
Here is a comparative analysis of placement statistics of both DTU IT and DTU SE.
Particulars |
DTU IT |
DTU SE |
No. of Students Placed |

No. of Offers |

INR 21.912 LPA |
Highest Package |
INR 90.07 LPA |

From the above table we can infer that the placement statistics of both DTU SE and DTU IT are highly comparable with SE giving a light edge to IT. Also, no companies differentiate between IT and SE students.
There are a number of reasons why many top rankers in JEE Main choose DTU over IITs and NITs. Here are some possible reasons.
In JEE Advanced if your rank is 2000+, your options for the branches are limited in IITs. Those who have a specific goal and preference then prefer going for a tier-2 institute that lets them. Some want the IIT tag and compromise on their branch.
It’s the ones that look at the bigger picture and compare colleges on wider aspects than the brand value that end up choosing DTU, the best choice after IITs and NITs.
All the colleges you mentioned; NSIT, DTU, and IIIT Delhi are run by the NCT government and have similar opportunities and brand value. The choice of the institute here depends more on personal factors than the institute itself.
NSIT:
DTU:
IIIT Delhi:
So, it precisely depends on the kind of branch you want to get if it’s all about programming go for IIIT Delhi, if it’s CSE, IT, or ECE go for NSIT but if it’s core branches like Mechanical, Electrical, or civil engineering DTU is the best option.
My friend was in a similar dilemma last year and chose DTU over IIT Patna. She considers new IITs overhyped and not at par with the IIT standards. Running after the IIT tag is not logical and you should look at the bigger picture. Anaise your career prospects and see if other options fit your prospects or not.
DTU is a great option for CSE considering the excellent exposure and opportunities you will get in Delhi, the capital. The salary packages, the companies, and the profiles offered at DTU are similar to the new IITs if not better.
To make things simpler, here are a few pros and cons of going for a new IIT instead of DTU
Pros:
Cons:
Ultimately it’s your choice whether you want a better campus life or the IIT tag.
