I am an alumnus of BIT Mesra and pursued my B.E. in Production Engineering from this institution. In my opinion, Production Engineering at BIT Mesra is an excellent course.
BIT Mesra Production Engineering faculty is learned and supportive at the same time. If you want a job in the manufacturing/production industry, the curriculum over there is useful and interesting. However, a few topics in the curriculum are obsolete and an update is required with the advancement in technology and production practices.
Production Engineering at BIT Mesra has an almost negligible workload when compared to the other branches. The faculty is not as strict with quizzes and assignment submissions. With some effort, you will perform quite well academically.
Placement-wise, Production Engineering at BIT Mesra is not an ideal branch. However, the top 10-15 students have a great chance of getting placed during campus recruitment. Not a good number of firms and industries related to this branch show up during campus recruitments. However, your skills and hard work will also determine your fate. During 2022, the placements for Production Engineering were decent with 33 students getting out of 42 registered students (and 36 eligible students).
Thus, Production Engineering at BIT Mesra is a really good stream, but not an ideal one in terms of placements.
Before choosing an institute, think about what your requirements are. Here are some points that might help you make a decision.
Therefore it is suggested that if you aim for an immediate job opportunity, go for NITs. For students who feel confident that they can get a job off campus or are more inclined towards academics and research can go for TU.
I think the branch matters more than the institute and that being said personally I feel IIT Bhilai Electrical is a better option than IIT Indore Material Science. The small batch size enables you to make the most out of the opportunities and resources. The points below further prove my opinion
Here is a small list of things why you should consider IIT Bhilai:
Overall, taking IIT Bhilai will not disappoint you and you will have a plethora of opportunities here.
Galgotias University is definitely a better choice for a BTech degree in CSE. I have friends at both Galgotias and Amity. Based on what I heard about the CSE department at these campuses, it is suggested to choose Galgotias.
The table below gives a brief insight into the CSE program offered by these institutes.
Parameters |
Galgotias University |
Amity University |
Average CTC |
8.75 LPA |
4.5 LPA |
Highest CTC |
35 LPA |
30 LPA |
Top Recruiters |
Microsoft, Wipro, Google |
HCL Group, Adobe Systems, Capgemini |
So, quality of education, placement statistics all these factors tips the balance in the favor of Galgotias University.
If you're considering pursuing biotechnology and are interested in NIT Raipur, here are some important points to consider:
It's important to consider all of these factors when making a decision about where to pursue your biotechnology education. Ultimately, the best choice will depend on your personal goals, interests, and priorities.
My friend graduated from IIT Madras a few months ago and was devastated by the placement scenario of her branch. It almost seems that only Electrical and Computer Science students were eligible for decent placements, rest all suffered.
Talking about Metallurgy specifically, he did not find a single core company visiting the campus for placements almost as if the branch was non-existent. He was told to maintain a good CGPA of 7-8+ for core roles but no core company visited.
In case you are looking for a high-paying non-core job, which is the case for most IITians, you will have to appear for several written and online exams not related to your specialization. You will have to make a good resume by including extra skills, developing your personality, and going the extra mile in your academics to achieve a high-paying job.
Concludingly, Metallurgy has little or no core job prospects so you will have to work hard to get non-core jobs.
According to some of my friends studying at NIT Calicut, the ECE branch is better in placements than the Mechanical Engineering branch.
Categories | ECE at NIT Calicut |
Course Fee | 5.42 lakhs |
Placement Percentage | 89% |
Highest CTC | 29 LPA |
Average CTC | 11 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Infosys, TCS, Accenture, IBM, etc. |
Only of the bright thing at NIT Calicut is that the exams are conducted only from the taught portions of the professors and not the whole syllabus. The course curriculum is a bit old and not current industry-oriented. The campus life, facilities and hostels are good. Students here have a decent college life with less extravaganza.
If you are mainly concerned with placements when it comes to CGC Landran for Mechanical, it is going to be tough. There are more than 800 students in a batch and crossing that hurdle to get placed is quite tough so my recommendation would not be for taking mechanical in this college.
As far as other branches are concerned, like CSE, IT and EC, you will definitely love studying there. You can get placed quite easily into decent companies and also get into international affairs like foreign exchange programs to countries like Belgium, China and UK.

When it comes to faculty with the mechanical department, it is quite good. However, the infrastructure is not that great at all. Being a mechanical engineering student, you will not get the exposure or knowledge you are looking for as compared to other colleges like SRM, VIT, or MIT Pune.
In my opinion, you should only join CGC Landran if you are looking for CSE and EC and not for mechanical engineering at all.
Amity Noida is better for CSE. It is the oldest campus and offers better facilities. The placement scenario for CSE is comparably better at Amity Noida. Major industry giants such as Microsoft, Accenture, IBM, L&T Infotech, etc. take part in the campus drive. Amity Noida placement highlights show the average package for CSE to be around INR 5 LPA. While the highest CTC offered goes up to INR 26 LPA.
NIT Raipur placements are good for Mining. This branch offers career scopes in PSU as well as in the corporate sector. Many core companies visit the campus placements. Vedanta Resources Ltd. is one such company. The average CTC offered for core sector jobs is around INR 5 LPA. Students also get recruited in non-core job profiles. The salary packages offered for non-core job profiles are around INR 11 LPA.
