Choosing the right branch:

If you are facing trouble choosing the right branch, you should remember the following things.

• Don’t opt for a branch just because of the higher CTC, or college brand name, etc. Because the degree you will get is for life. So, make sure you are interested to work in the field that you are choosing. 
• Also, go through the syllabus given on the official website and see if you can do the coursework for the branch of your choosing.

My brother was a student of MNNIT Allahabad and for his 1st year, the highest CGPA was 9.67, while many scored 9. So, the chances of branch upgradation are quite slim.

MNNIT Allahabad offers similar opportunities for IT and CSE branches. Other than a few subjects, the curriculum, faculty, and career opportunities are more or less the same for NIT Allahabad. 

Though Surathkal is promising a better university life with beaches and all. 

NIT Allahabad houses one of the country's biggest and brightest CSE departments. Here you're getting a good, competitive, and coding-oriented environment. Seniors are very supportive and the course is good. But the location is quite remote so if you belong to a metro city, you will be disappointed with the city life. 

In terms of placements, both institutes are almost on the same level. 

Another important aspect you can factor in while choosing is the distance of the institute from your home and choose the nearlest. 

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from GRIET is a good option to go for students. 

2020 Placements Statistics: 

If you look at the overall placement statistics for the year 2020, then the highest package was offered at INR 41.6 lakhs per annum by Microsoft. There were a total of 364 CSE students who have got placed till now. 

Thus, overall if you want to follow CSE at GRIET looking at this placement figure, then it is a very good choice.

IIIT Allahabad is unquestionably superior to NIT Durgapur. But this isn't to say that NIT Durgapur isn't good. 

• If you want a career in ECE, don’t go for NIT Durgapur. ECE branch at NIT Durgapur does not have good reviews. 
• However, if you want to go for an MBA after your BTech, then NIT Durgapur can be a good option. 
• In the ICT sector, IIIT Allahabad holds a special position for ECE and this institute specializes in the IT sector. I have a few friends at the institute who vouches for the course. 

Here’s a brief comparison of the ECE branch at these two institutes.

Apart from that, just like NITD, IIIT Allahabad is an institute of national importance that is entirely funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development. 

So, for ECE, IIIT Allahabad is definitely the better option.

The students can get better placement in NIT Raipur. One will get good opportunities and exposure in the mining branch too. Moreover, the experience at NIT is far better than BIT DURG.

• The curriculum followed by BIT DURG and even NIT Raipur is outdated.
• The institute is at least 10 years behind the current industry practice as compared to NIT Raipur.
• At least 30 years behind if we compare it with the US or European schools.
• The industry clientele had taken leaps and bounds in terms of technology and what the students study is old-era theories that have little relevance in practice now. 
• Many industries hire graduates through campus interviews, 1st train them for 3 to 6 months to prepare the students as per industry requirements and update the knowledge.

So overall, if the students are into mechanical or mining, don't rely too much on what the book taught you, be aware of current trends and practices.

Having friends from Thapar University and reading some online reviews about it, I gathered some facts about the college. Let me share what I learned about their placements and the salary packages offered. This information might help you answer your question.

• The highest package offered for electrical engineering was 8 lakhs from the Vedanta Group. 
• But few students were selected for an internship in Procter and Gamble which offered 16 lakhs depending on the performance in the internship.

Statistics for Electrical Engineering –

Placements for Electrical Engineering, Electronics (Instrumentation and Control) Engineering, and Electronics and Computer Engineering is more than 90%. The average salary package ranges from 5 to 6 LPA.

BIT Mesra offers good placements to CSE/IT students. 

2020 Placement Statistics:

• The average package for this particular branch is 10 LPA. 
• The highest package offered to the students of CSE/IT students was around 49 LPA.
• The primary recruiters here are the IT-based big giants such as Wipro, TCS, Infosys, etc. 
• A couple of tier 2 software companies offer 4-9 LPA (Oracle, SAP Labs, MuSigma).
• The placement average for this branch is around 80% and almost 30% of students get internship offers after completing their 3rd year.
