How good is NIT Goa?
NIT Goa is an Institute of National Importance. A lot of my friends studied at NIT Goa and here are some things about the college I got to know from them. Let us look at the various aspects of the institute to decide if it is really good for you or not.
Infrastructure
- It operates from the temporary campus at Goa Engineering College (GEC) at Farmagudi, Ponda in Goa.
- Though the campus is small, it is really a lush green campus and has all the modern facilities.
- All the necessary machines and equipment needed for running a fully functional lab of an engineering college are present.
- The faculty are really good and cooperative.
Hostel and sports facilities
- The college houses the students in rented 2 BHK flats on the GEC campus.
- The hostels are not cleaned properly and there are frequent water shortages.
- The mess food is also quite average. Thus mess and hostel are the weakest links of NIT Goa.
- For sports, the campus has courts and grounds nearby.
- The college also has its own mini sports room which has many indoor sports equipment.
Campus life
- You are in Goa and thus beach parties, waterfall visits, and nature trails are very common.
- You will also have many events going on throughout the year in Goa.
- Apart from that, the campus hosts a tech-fest (Technival) and a cultural fest (Raag).
- The temporary campus has its own day canteens which you can enjoy during study breaks.

To conclude, the college is actually good. Yes, you will not get the full facilities of a permanent campus and the hostel facilities are sub-par. But for an educational institution, it is quite good.
Is NIT Goa good?
My brother was a student at this institute. He scored 180 in JEE Main and bagged an AIR of 13000. The day he entered the institute, he realized this wasn't for him. But as time passed, he got familiar with the college and even started enjoying his time there. Here are some snippets of his experience at the institute.
- One of the best faculty members taught them.
- They had a campus of their own, even though temporary.
- The quality of placements has increased. The placements in this campus are considered to have the best status among all the new NITs.
- Sports facilities are building up and the administration is also coming up with various opportunities.
- NIT Goa is considered to be the 12th best among all the 30 NITs.
- The institute is 0% tolerant of ragging. No cases of ragging have come up in recent times.
- NIT Goa is far better than GEC Goa. So your choice should always be NIT Goa.
Being a part of the first few batches my brother had many opportunities. They even started a cultural festival in college. My brother does not regret choosing NIT Goa one bit. Most of his batchmates secured job offers at reputed MNCs.
How is the placement of a M.tech CS like in ISI Kolkata?
One of my friends is an alumnus of ISI Kolkata and here is his insight into the placements for MTech CS.
- The job profiles offered by ISI are mostly from Data Analytics. You will not get many CS core jobs from the placement drive. Don’t expect companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.
- As an M.Tech(CS) student, you will have a fair knowledge about IR, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining and you can easily get jobs at these visiting companies.
- In the recent placement drive, the highest package offered was INR 25 to 28 LPA while the average was INR 10 to 12 LPA.
- ISI offers good job opportunities, but it is limited to a particular domain. Along with Data Analytics companies, few R&D centers like TCS Innovation, Infosys R&D, visit the placement drive.
Other than that you can apply for summer internships and if you perform well you will receive PPOs. But if you are expecting a job strictly related to your field after the compilation of your masters then don’t choose ISI. It is an excellent option if you want to do a Ph.D. or want a career in research.
Are there any reservations in the NMIMS?
NMIMS is a private university founded by the Gujaratis and so, in the initial days, it remained with a greater portion of reservation (50%) for Gujarati’s. But, later on, this reservation comes to an end & now it follows only 2 reservation stated as follows:
- Reservation for female candidates (30%)
- Minor part of a reservation for widows/ wards of armed forces personnel killed/disabled in war/action or for Kashmiri migrants
Being a private university NMIMS has not had reservations based on caste; financial background; or management quota.
This does not mean that NMIMS would not comply with any kind of reservation in the future. It is a private university run by a trust and all the decisions would be taken by the members of the trust to further the university brand value.
How are the placements for chemical engineering at NIT Trichy?
The placement cell is very proactive. Companies like management and software companies also participate. They have a 100% placement record. Getting a job is not a very difficult task here.

Chemical Engineering is an enjoyable course, only if you are interested in it. The seniors here are involved in a variety of things. They have internships in many of the highly reputed colleges both within and outside India. Because of their skills, they have been able to bag some really good placements and some of them have even got into really good colleges for their Masters. A lot depends on your attitude towards that particular subject and your communication skills. You should have leadership qualities.
There are lots of high-paying companies that go to college and almost every student gets placed in one or the other company.
Only if you put the effort into your field and study with interest, you can reach the heights you want to reach in your career.
How is life at NIT Delhi?
Life at NT Delhi is both challenging as well as rewarding in terms of the opportunities it offers both academically and non-academically. The relatively small batch size ensures a good rapport between the peers and also with the faculty. The small intake also ensures a decent package for everyone during placements.
- Sentience is the annual cultural and technical fest of NIT Delhi. Although is not held at the same level as other engineering colleges, it is extravagant and dynamic.
- The permanent campus has excellent hostel facilities with provisions of AC rooms for which students are required to pay an extra 10k.
- The Nilerd campus and SRHC also have decent hostel facilities. The mess food is average and this campus is almost 5km away from the main campus. The commute is easy as a bus runs at the college’s expense to transport you to and fro both the campuses 5 times a week.
- The NILERD campus has decent sports facilities at least in comparison to the main campus which has sports facilities still under construction.
- NIT Delhi does not have an active club life.
- Students get a plethora of opportunities to participate in various activities and sports due to the low intake.
- The college is located in close proximity to many IT hubs so many companies visit the campus during placements.
NIT Delhi has a number of canteens on campus to cater to various necessities like stationary, snacks, etc.
Life at NIT Delhi is pretty engaging and dynamic offering ample opportunities to build a successful career.
How much is the fees of Thapar University for a 4 years BTech programme, including all hostel fees, etc.?
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), now known as Thapar University charges different fees for different courses. The 4-year B.Tech Fees range between INR 1,95,300 and INR 2,38,600 Per Semester depending on the specialization and other factors. The one-year fee is 4.61 Lakhs. The detailed fees structure for the academic year 2021-22 including tuition fees, hostel fees, and other charges is as follows:
For Day Scholars
- Annual Tuition Fees: INR 3,20,000/-
- Other Charges (One Time): INR 55,000/-
For Hostellers
- Annual Tuition Fees: INR 3,20,000/-
- Hostel Fees: INR 1,25,000/- to 1,55,000/- per annum (depending on the type of hostel and room)
- Other Charges (One Time): INR 55,000/-
It's important to note that the fees might vary depending on the program, branch of engineering, and several other factors.
How is the life of an MBBS student at KJ Somaiya medical college, Mumbai?
The life of an MBBS student at KJ Somaiya Medical College, like medical students at most institutions, can be both challenging and rewarding. The lectures at KJ Somaiya typically begin at 8:30 in the morning and go until 5–5:30 in the evening. Typically, lectures last three hours and include a 15-minute break. After lectures, students attend committee meetings, presentations, assignments, or extracurricular activities. Here's an overview of what you can expect during your time as an MBBS student at KJ Somaiya Medical:
- Academic rigor: You will have to study a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, microbiology, and clinical medicine. The workload can be intense, and you'll spend a significant amount of time in lectures, labs, and studying.
- Class strength: The student-faculty ratio is good. And students come from various states which results in a diversity in culture, perspective and language This diversity of thought enriches class discussions and exposes students to a wide range of ideas and viewpoints, fostering a more dynamic and stimulating learning environment.
- Facilities: College provides you with great amenities. There is stock in libraries. Next to the college is the hostel. The cafeteria is fantastic. You may also find a skating rink, cricket pitch, indoor table tennis facility and football pitch on the site.
- Private hospital: Because it is a privately funded facility, patients are not in short supply, but there is also not an overcrowding issue. This offers you plenty of time to prepare for your PG while also providing ideal clinical experience.
Rather than high fee structure KJ Somaiya Medical college is a good place to pursue MBBS. It would be demanding as well as incredibly rewarding.
How good is NIMS University?
Other than some of the medical courses, the other programs offered by NIMS University Jaipur aren’t good. The quality of education isn’t good. Proper lectures aren’t scheduled regularly. The faculties usually focus on completing the syllabus fast. The teaching approach is outdated. There is less focus on practicals.
How was your MICA interview experience?
After taking exams like CAT, GMAT and MICAT, which is MICA's own entrance exam, you are shortlisted for GE/PI based on your combined CAT/GMAT and MICAT score. Every candidate's interview experience is unique and subjective. The panelists try to ask critical questions, eager to test your stand. But you don't need to stress out, just be rational.
Here is a genuine interview experience of a friend of mine:
Venue: Indian Social Institute, New Delhi
Slot: Morning Slot
- First of all your GEPI Registrations happen at the venue which eventually gets over by 9:15 after which you are assigned panel numbers. Candidates are put into several groups of 7-8 members each, and from there they are taken for the GE.
- Thereafter, two-panel members welcome you and provide you with aprons to wear, on which a serial number of candidates is written.
- A group exercise is assigned which has to be executed collectively by the group members at the GE. The exercise that my friend got was "to prepare a skit in which you're playing yourself and Candidate 3 is chosen for admission to MICA from this group, you have to justify his selection."
- Then, you are given 7-8 minutes to think about and plan your group exercise. My friend and her group decided that they will let candidate 3 have a great interview while other group members will be downplaying their strengths and hence justifying the selection of candidate 3 through their group exercise.
- After your group exercise, you are asked to wait for the common waiting area and you will be facing three new panel members for the personal interview round.
- The panel members will greet you and ask you to sit down. They might discuss the group project that you just performed and what was your role in it.
- They might ask you about your academic background and why you chose to appear for MICA over IIMs. Questions about social media marketing, digital marketing can be thrown at you at any time so prepare beforehand.
Lastly, even if the panelists try to grill you, you have to stand your ground and keep your composure. If you have good communication skills and you understand what all marketing is actually about, then your result will be definitely converted.
