How would you rank the IIITs? Should I prefer IIIT Allahabad or NIT Rourkela?
IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT Ahmedabad are the best IIITs and have similar ages. IIIT Hyderabad fairs are better than IIIT Ahmedabad in terms of its coding culture and the kind of job opportunities it provides.
IIIT Hyderabad students must work extra hard and wake up very early for PT. The institute has a record of attracting a better crowd because a lot accepts only top rankers of JEE Main. One of the drawbacks of the institute is that it’s private and therefore charges hefty fees while IIIT Ahmedabad is a government college so it charges lesser fees.
IIIT Ahmedabad has a bit flexible campus life quite similar to other government colleges like IIT and NITs. Additionally, it also has a rich coding culture with amazing job opportunities.
I don’t find any major differences in the curriculum, campus life, and placement scenario of both the institutes so choose the one that aligns with your preferences. As for choosing one between IIIT Allahabad and NIT Rourkela, go for the former without any second thoughts. IIITs are best suited for coding lovers and people passionate about computers. So if you are one of them, go for any IIIT between these two!

IIIT Allahabad is a better option compared to NIT Rourkela. An IT degree from IIITA offers better career prospects. According to the 2022 placement highlights of the institute, students received an average CTC of around INR 30.63 LPA. More than 80 companies took part in the placement drive, this year. EY, KPMG, Planet Spark, Vedantu, etc. were among the major recruiters in the placement drive.

IIIT Allahabad and IIIT Gwalior campus are better than other IIITs, as they are some of the oldest institutes, who have great college culture and placement records. Also, IIIT Lucknow, which is managed by IIITA, also has a good reputation. As IIIT Hyderabad is not set up by the Government, nothing can be said for it.
If you are thinking between IIIT Allahabad and NIT Rourkela, then IIITA would be a better option.
Infrastructure: IIIT Allahabad provides good infrastructure. Every classroom and lab is in good condition. The campus has centralized AC classrooms, a swimming pool, a student activity center, a tennis court, a football ground, a medical center, cafeteria. All of them are in functional condition.
Faculty: IIITA faculties are skilled and professional, having an academic and research background. Only the relevant assignments are assigned to students.
Placement: The placement cell of IIITA is good. Almost all the students get placed after graduating from IIITA.
Lab: First-year students have to share the computer in the lab, but from the second year each student is allotted their own computer.
Hostel: IIIT Allahabad has good hostel condition. Students can choose double or single-occupancy rooms according to their comfort. Some hostels also have gyms and night canteens. The hostel also has a Mess for students.
Environment: IIIT Allahabad has a good student environment. You will meet lots of passionate students who are willing to gain knowledge of coding. Every year IIITA sends students to regional events, such as ACM ICPC. Great coders like Manmohan Mishra, Harsha Suryanarayana, and many more graduated from IIIT Allahabad, who reached the finals. Seniors also help new students take additional classes and hone their coding skills.
Events and fests: IIITA organizes Effe, a cultural feast for 2-3 days. Several competitions such as singing, dancing, drama, along DJ nights are organized on the campus. Apart from college fest, Aparoksha, tech fest, and Asmita, sports meet is also organized by IIITA. Also, IIITA has lots of societies and clubs which organize their yearly events separately.
Therefore, you can choose IIIT Allahabad if you want to pursue your career in IT. Other branches of IIITA like ECE, may not be a great choice.
