Remarks :
The admission process starts with CAT Exam on the last Sunday of November Every year. The eligibility to give the CAT exam is that one must have more than 50% in 10th, 12th and Graduation. After the CAT results are declared, one must go through a Group Discussion, Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. After these processes are done, a composite score will be generated based on 10th, and 12th, graduation marks, Work Experience, GD, PI and WAT performance. Based on the composite scores, the Shortlists will be released. The cut-off for the general category for IIM Trichy is 92 percentile overall and 70+ percentile in each section of CAT.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The first year consists of all core courses, which are mandatory for all students. The number of faculty in the college is 43, and the number of students intake is around 410. This makes the faculty: student ratio 1:10. All the faculty have completed their PhD from reputed colleges like IIMs and IITs. The teaching method is case-based. In the second year, students will have the chance to choose the electives of their choice and pursue a specialization. The exams are always conducted as per the schedule, and the paper and the evaluation are very tough. The electives in the second year are offered from various domains ranging from marketing, strategy, finance, general management etc.
Internships Opportunities :
The summer Internship process starts in the month of august and ends after the entire batch gets placed. The internship process is usually handled by the placement team of the college and they make it hassle-free. More than 100 companies visit the campus for summer Internships and a wide range of roles are offered during the Internships. The companies that visit the campus cannot be mentioned as per the rules of the placement office. As I still haven't completed my summer internship I cannot explain the roles and projects that I have received during the Internship.
Placement Experience :
The placements of our college are handled by the Placement team of our college. More than 100 companies visit the campus for placements. Due to the rules of the placement team, the companies that visit the campus cannot be disclosed. The average stipend for summer internships is usually around 70-80k per month and the average package for the final placements is around 17 lakhs. The placements in the college are decent enough.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees per year are around nine lakhs per annum, and the fees for the entire course duration are around 18 lakhs. The 18 lakhs include all the fees, including the hostel, mess, books and exam fees. The college has a bank that provides education loans to students without collateral. The fee hike plan is not known, and it is handled only by the PGPM office.
Campus Life :
The campus life of IIM Trichy is splendid. There are several student clubs and committees which make student life easier in college. There are around 12 clubs and 13 committees in the college. The annual fest of the college Dhruva is usually conducted in the last week of January. Apart from the annual fest, the college also conducts an annual leadership and business conclave named Daksha and Nishtha. The best part of the college is its Learning Resource Center, one of the country's best libraries. The classrooms have all the modern amenities and the design of the classrooms are Harvard-based classroom designs.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostels of IIM Trichy are decent enough. All the college hostels are twin sharing, and the facilities of the hostels are decent. All the hostel rooms have AC, study tables, mirrors, white board, almirahs and bunk beds. The rooms are actually big for one person and a little congested for 2 people. All the floors have water dispensers, and all the washrooms have geysers. The hostels have 24 hrs water and electricity supply. The hostels are completely secured and constantly monitored.
Interview Experience :
The actual admission process includes Group Discussion, Written Ability Test and a Personal Interview. But due to covid pandemic, the GD and WAT weren't conducted for our batch and only personal Interview was conducted. The personal interview was a stress Interview and questions were asked from various domains. The interviewer asks various questions from the resume of the student, past work experience if any, questions from topics related to under graduation, Current affairs and any questions related to the interests and hobbies of the student. The interviews are usually offline, but due to covid they were conducted online.
