Remarks :
The admission process was smooth as it was through JOSAA counselling. You only get to go through JOSAA if you have applied for JEE exams like JEE Mains (NITs and IIITs) or Advanced( for IITs), and some other colleges also take entry through JOSAA. I see no such improvements to be made in the counselling process. I availed no reservation.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Chemical Science and technology. There weren't many choices for the rank I achieved when it came to old IITs. I had civil engineering as an option at IITG but I have my interests in the software field, and hence CST seems better as it is a relatively less hectic branch. The faculty-student ratio in IITs is approximately 1:15 and hence is good. But dont expect direct contact with any faculty, most of the communication takes place through the institute's email and seldom irl meets. Some faculty members are passionate, and you thoroughly enjoy their classes, others do not. But all in all, they are good. The exams are frequent and timely, with moderate difficulty.
Internships Opportunities :
Google, microsoft, amazon, and goldman sachs gave roles to software development interns. A lot of companies came for consultancy jobs. A lot of companies also came for finance and fintech-related interns. Some of the projects were to build an API, clone the Flipkart website, contribute to open source, find bugs in their code, etc.
Placement Experience :
The placements here are great. Students become eligible from 3rd year for internships, and in 4th year they get placed. Almost every company ranging from software to core jobs come here. Some are Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, amazon, google, etc. The highest package was 1.15 cr last year, and the median was 2500000. 95 per cent and above students got placed according to the data provided. I plan to get placed in the software domain after completing my degree.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The overall fee for a general candidate is approximately 11 lakhs for a btech programme. Huge fee waivers are available for reserved caste students. Campus jobs are limited but you can earn through internships that come in 2nd year, and majorly in 3rd year. I have got no job as of now.
Campus Life :
The annual fest is alcheringa in the month of January. Techfest is technique held in the month of September. The library is huge with 3 floors, and all the subject-related books are there. You will get Hindi literature and english fiction too. Classrooms are equipped with AC speakers and projectors. There are plenty of sports amenities. Swimming pool, cricket tennis athletics ground, basketball badminton courts, gymnasium everything is available. There are a lot of clubs, perhaps in every aspect be it tech sports or cultural here.
Hostel Facilities :
The room is equipped with LAN. You need to purchase a router as there is only a single lan port for double sharing room. The meal quality is great. The mess menu is comprehensive with all kinds of nutritional food. Breakfast is heavenly. Non veg is served twice a week, and can be purchased everyday. Registration is very easy as the hostels are alloted randomly. It comes with the admission formalities. I live in campus hostel.
