Bachelor of Architecture [B.Arch] From IGDTUW, New Delhi

Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) is a five years undergraduate program which can be started after 10+2 with minimum 50% marks. This course is designed to produce licensed and professional architects who are authorized to do private constructions and government constructions.

Average fees for this course in government colleges ranges from Rs. 1.5 Lakhs to 2.5 Lakhs and in private institutes it ranges from approx. Rs. 2.5 Lakhs to 5 Lakhs. After the successful completion of this course the students can pursue their career in architecture sector with the average salary range between Rs. 2.5 to Rs. 4.5 LPA.

What is course about?

B. Arch. is a technical course study which mainly focuses on the development of the skills which are required to become an Architect. Students learn the process of construction of commercial buildings, malls, complexes, highways construction and civil construction by applying their innovative ideas and analytical skills. It also includes the theory and practice of designing process and as well as the commercial drawing techniques.

What are the skills required and who should opt for this course?

The activities of an Architect are different in each project or assignment but it is enjoyable. Mainly the skills required in this course are drawing skills, analytical skills and constructing skills. It also requires practical skills rather than theoretical skills.

If somebody is fond of doing different kind of activities every time by his/her own then they should opt for this course. As compared to clerical work, this course requires initiative abilities, challenges-accepted attitude and hands-on-work style.

A candidate passing any of the following examinations from a recognized School/College/Institute and securing 50 % or more marks in the aggregate with Mathematics as a subject and must have passed English as a subject of study of the Senior School Certificate Level Examination and also qualifies the JEE- Main. 5% concession of marks in the minimum eligibility requirements for OBC. 10% concession of marks in the minimum eligibility requirements for Sc/ ST. 

1. Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi.
2. Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year course) of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
3. Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination of the C.B.S.E. 

1. The admission to B. Arch Program will be based on All India Rank prepared by CBSE in JEE Main 2017 (Paper – 2) examination and also the candidate must have declared eligible for Central Counseling by the CBSE. The admission to B.Arch program will be done through Joint Admission Counseling (jointly organized for DTU, NSIT, IIITD & IGDTUW).
2. 85% of the total seats are reserved for a candidate belonging to Delhi Region (Students passing the qualifying examination from recognized Board / College / Institution located within the NCT of Delhi) and 15% of the total seats for candidates belonging to outside Delhi Region

B.Tech course consists of 4 years of graduation with specialization in 4 streams. B.Arch is a 5 year-long graduation course.

IGDTUW B.Tech and B.Arch Eligibility Criteria 

• For B.Tech program, the basic eligibility for is 60% marks in 10+2 in the Science group.
• For the B.Arch program, the basic eligibility is 50% marks in 10+2 with Mathematics.

IGDTUW B.Tech. and B.Arch. Selection Criteria 

• For the selection procedure, JEE Main entrance exam is must for both courses. 
• Candidates will also be required to appear in counseling by Joint Admission Counselling (JAC).
• Those students who got admissions after the counseling round, have to confirm their admissions by paying 75,000 in advance by SBI Challan or Online.

How to Apply for B.Tech and B.Arch? 

• Students have to appear for JEE Main entrance exam
• After the declaration of results, college releases the cut off for the admissions procedure.
• Students have to apply for the admissions. Later, those students who got their name in the cut off list can further apply for the counseling process i.e. JAC.
• There will be 3 rounds of cut off list, if any student doesn’t get their names in the 1st round, they apply for other rounds.
