LPU B.Tech Biotechnology Course Highlights
- Apart from the foundation and core courses, students can choose 4 electives from the engineering stream and 4 electives from other streams of their choice.
- Students will have a glimpse into the industry through talks by experts, projects in collaboration with the industry and through internships.
- LPU charges INR 1,40,000 per semester for the B.Tech in Biotechnology course.
- The placement pathway is inclusive of corporate jobs, government jobs and higher education.
LPU B.Tech Biotechnology Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the B.Tech Biotechnology program at LPU must have qualified 10+2 with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (with Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST/ CUET/ JEE Mains. Candidates who do not have English as a subject can only apply if they complete 10+2 in English medium.
There is a 5% relaxation for candidates from North East or Sikkim, Wards of Defence Personnel and wards of Kashmiri Migrants.

To get admission to the B.Tech Biotechnology program at LPU, students need to qualify for the LPUNEST Exam. Based on qualifying exam merit, the selection list is prepared.
LPU- B.Tech Biotechnology Entrance Exam
LPUNEST is an entrance exam conducted by LPU for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- It is a multiple-choice test with 120 questions and spans 2 ½ hours.
- The questions are divided into 4 sections, each quizzing on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and English respectively.
- Each section carries 30 questions.
- Each correct answer carries 4 marks (2 marks for the English section). There is no negative marking.
LPU- B.Tech Biotechnology How To Apply?
Interested candidates can follow the given steps to proceed with an application at LPU for the BTech Biotechnology course.
- Visit the official website of LPU and register with information such as Name, Email ID, Mobile No., State, Gender, etc
- The email ID with which you will apply will be the username.
- Pay the examination fee and application form of your choice as it comes in 2 formats, the soft copy which is INR 1000/- for boys and INR 500/- for girls and the printed copy which is INR 1500/- for boys and INR 1000/- for girls.
- Next, fill in the test application form.
- Now you can book the preferred slot for taking the exam.

LPU B.Tech Biotechnology Course Details
The 4-year program is divided into 8 semesters with the odd semesters called Autumn Term and the even semesters called Spring Term.
- The coursework of BTech Biotechnology consists of foundation and core courses and 4 electives each in engineering and other streams of choice.
- Students will have elective courses from 3rd year onwards
- The curriculum is inclusive of Industry certifications, MOOCs, Workshops, Guest lectures, Educational Trips, Live projects, Incubation projects, Community projects, Hackathons / Co-curricular Competitive events, projects with NGOs, etc
- Students can study a semester or year abroad and gain a foreign degree for the duration. This is only available after completing the first 2 years.

The B.Tech in Biotechnology is four years with eight semesters and its cost is around Rs 1,40,000 per semester. This program helps the student to develop a strong foundation in application and the basics of biotechnology. This is one of the booming fields in the world. I would like to point out the advantages of pursuing a B.Tech in Biotechnology from LPU. The university has state-of-art laboratories and modern infrastructure which is one of the main requirements for this course.
