Admission to VIT University is determined by the VITEEE exam, which does not include negative marking. Higher ranks in this exam lead to lower tuition fees and a better chance of enrolling in preferred branches like Computer Science or Electrical and Electronics. Those ranking below 20,000 are invited for the first phase of counseling, held offline at VIT's Chennai and Vellore campuses, where branch selection is based on rank. VIT boasts a nearly 100% placement rate, with top packages reaching INR 1.15 Crore per annum and an average of INR 9-10 Lakhs per annum. Over 850 companies participate in annual campus placements, offering roles in IT, software, core engineering, and consultancy. The placement process categorizes offers into Regular, Dream (4.5 LPA and above), and Super Dream (10 LPA and above). Internships are integrated into the curriculum, and students can partake from their 3rd year. The university also fosters entrepreneurship and supports a thriving startup culture among its students.
