VIT Vellore Admissions 2024 (Open): Dates, Cutoff, Eligibility, Selection Criteria & Application Process

VIT Vellore offers B.Tech program in 10 specializations namely, CSE, Computer Science & Business Systems, Biotechnology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Data Sciences, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. The major specializations such as Computer Science, Mechanical and Electronics & Communication include further specializations. Admission to the VIT Vellore BTech program is based on VITEEE exam score, the expected cutoff for the current year is given in the table below:

VIT Vellore B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the B.Tech program must check the eligibility criteria set by the authority:

• Candidate must be a Indian National / NRI/ PIO/ OCI holder.
• Must have passed 10+2
• Minimum marks obtained must be 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology (PCM/ PCB) in class 12 or equivalent exam.
• Born on or after July 1, 1999.

VIT Vellore B.Tech Selection Criteria

Candidates for admission are selected based on VITEEE marks. Students applying with JEE Main and SAT exam score are also eligible to apply. The university will shortlist candidates for admission based on cutoff marks set by them. However, VIT Vellore does not release its cutoff list. Examinees in the top merit i.e. from 1 to 20,000 are called for participating in Phase 1 counselling on multiple dates.

During the counselling process, the seats will be allocated to the candidates based on their All India Rank and the choices filled by them. Candidates are expected to carry the following documents at the time of VITEEE Counselling. The candidates are required to carry the following documents to the counseling:

• Rank card, Admit card & Counselling letter of VITEEE
• Class Xth certificate in support of Date of Birth
• Marks sheet of qualifying examination
• Community & Domicile certificate, if applicable
• Demand Draft in favor of “VIT University” payable at Vellore.

How to apply VIT Vellore B.Tech? 

VITEEE application form can be issued in four different ways:

• Online mode: 

You need to go to the official website of VIT University. Register yourself; you will receive a password on your email. Now login again with the new password and fill all details. A new registration number will be generated. Now pay application fee of INR 1150/- through net banking/credit card/debit card/ paytm. After payment, upload your scanned photograph (3.5 cm to 4.5 cm) & signature (6 cm to 2 cm) in jpg/jpeg format. Do not send any document to the university.

Note: If a transaction is not found successful due to network error even after the deduction of amount from your account. Please wait for three working days; you can proceed further after receiving the mail from VIT. In case the transaction found incomplete after four working days you should send the mail to ugadmission@vit.ac.in

• In person: 

You can obtain the prospectus in person from any campus of the university by handing over the DD of INR 1200 in favor of “VIT university” payable at Vellore.

• Offline mode: 

Students can also obtain the prospectus & application form through various post offices located all over India by paying INR 1200 in cash. Fill the form using a Black ball point pen & shade the bubbles through pencil. Affix the recent colour photograph (Do not attest the photo). Write down the valid e-mail ID & correct test centre. Also fill the details regarding hostel accommodation if you need.

After filling the computerized OMR sheet properly, write a mailing address clearly on the self- addressed envelope & send it through a registered post to the university.

Note 1: Students, who have applied through DD, have to send the hard copy of Application form (duly filled along with relevant documents) to VIT University.

Note 2: Application forms once sold shall not be taken back under any situation. Fees once paid will not be remitted.

VIT University Vellore offers full-time B.Arch and B.Des courses in various disciplines. 10+2 with PCM/B with 60% marks in aggregate is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. VIT Vellore offers a B.Arch program through the School of Architecture and a B.Des program through the School of Design. 

VIT Vellore B.Arch Eligibility Criteria

B.Arch: 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject and minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/ Jammu & Kashmir and North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura).

B.Des: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with 60% marks in aggregate.

VIT Vellore B.Arch & B.Des Selection Criteria

The university conducts VITEEE to offer admission in B.Des. Along with VITEEE, candidates who have passed UCEED can also apply for the B.Des program. Students with a valid score in VITEEE are not required to appear in UCEED. A valid score in NATA is required to secure admission in the B.Arch program.

Online Mode:

3. Pay the application fee of 1200 by Credit/ Debit Card or Net-Banking.

Offline Mode: Obtain the application form from the designated branches of the Post office on payment of INR 1200 through cash. Candidates can also send the DD of INR 1200 drawn in favor of VIT University payable at Vellore.

VIT University Vellore offers various UG programs such as BBA, BCA, BA, B.Sc and B.Com in various specializations. The minimum eligibility for all the courses is 10+2 from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. 

VIT Vellore UG Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for UG courses vary as per the courses, given below is the subject-wise eligibility criteria for all the UG courses:

Final admission is granted on the basis of marks in the last qualifying examination followed by university-based counseling.

How to apply?

• Fill the application form online. 
• Pay the application fee of INR 1100 (INR 500 for B.Sc Hons. (Agriculture)) by Credit/ Debit Card or Net-Banking. 
• Take the printout of the application form and send it with the required documents to the university address.

Application Form for BCA, B.Com & B.Sc courses: The application form can be filled online or can be obtained through post or by sending DD of INR 400 drawn in favour of ‘VIT’ payable at Vellore. In case of receiving application through DD or post, the candidates have to send the request letter along with their complete address containing the mobile number to:

Note: Students must note that duly filled form is required to be sent to the university address on or before the last date along with the required documents.

VIT University also offers M.Tech, MCA and M.Tech by Research programs at PG level. Bachelor’s degree in the related discipline with at least 60% marks in aggregate is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. 

VIT Vellore Eligibility Criteria: M.Tech, MCA, and M.Tech by Research

The eligibility criteria for VIT Vellore M.Tech, MCA, and M.Tech is as follows:

VIT conducts VITMEE to offer admission in these courses. VITMEE is a computer-based test. Final admission is subject to an interview round of the shortlisted candidates. Apart from VITMEE, GATE qualified candidates are also eligible to apply.

Key Points:

• Application form for M.Tech and MCA courses can be filled online on payment of INR 1121 as application fee. There is no need to send the application form by post.
• M.Tech by Research program is offered in Internal (Full-Time), Internal (Part-Time) and External (Part-Time) modes.

VIT University M.Tech by Research Selection Criteria: This criterion is decided as per the minimum eligibility criteria of the course.

• For AMIE degree holders, 40% weightage will be given to Written Test and 60% to Interview with a valid score in GATE/ UGC/ CSIR NET or NBHM.
• For Master’s in Engineering, 40% weightage will be given to the relevant Master’s degree and 60% for Written Test or Interview.
• For M.Sc or MCA degree holders, 20% weightage will be given to Bachelor’s degree and 20% to Master’s degree followed by 60% to the Written Test and Interview.

How to Apply?

• VITMEE 2023 application form will be available on the university website online.
• Candidates need to login in with their registered email id and password concerned.
• Fill in the form the necessary academic and personal information accordingly by reading each bit carefully.
• Candidates need to upload passport size photographs and scanned signatures.
• Keep in mind to choose the most convenient exam centre in the application form.
• Aspirants need to pay the application fee once the form is submitted. Various payment options are available such as Credit/Debit card or via Bank Transfer.
• Print the form for future preferences.

VITMEE 2023 Registration Fee

• The application form will not be considered valid unless the application fee is paid.
• The application fee for all the candidates will be INR 1200.
• Candidates can choose their desired payment method for payment of the fees concerned, i.e. Credit/ Debit Card or Online Banking.

VIT University Vellore also offers MBA, M.Sc and M.Des courses at PG level. CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ NMAT or CMAT qualified candidates can apply for MBA programs. Merit is the only criteria to secure admission in M.Sc and M.Des. VIT Vellore also offers M.Sc (Int.) in Biotechnology.

For M.Des, candidates must have passed B.Des degree while B.Sc. degree in the relevant discipline is mandatory for M.Sc. For MBA, the candidate with Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline is mandatory.

VIT Vellore PG Eligibility Criteria

• MBA: CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ NMAT or CMAT score followed by Essay Writing and Personal Interview.
• M.Sc & M.Des: On the basis of Merit in the qualifying examination
• Integrated M.Sc: Merit in the qualifying examination followed by counselling or Interview

Key Points:

• For all of the above courses, the marks in the qualifying examination are relaxed by 40% for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/ Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
• Application form for M.Sc can be filled online on payment of INR 590 (INR 472 for Int. M.Sc (Biotechnology)) as application fee. Candidates are advised send the printout of duly filled application form to:

Minimum eligibility for M.Phil is Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks. For VIT Vellore Ph.D., Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Business Administration with minimum 60% marks or M.Sc. (Engineering) / M.S. (by Research).

VIT Vellore PhD Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the various streams in PhD is as follows:

• Sciences: Master’s degree in relevant Science discipline with 60% marks.
• Language: Master’s degree with 55% marks in aggregate
• Law: Master’s in Law or LL.M with 55% marks in aggregate
• Management: ME/ M.Tech or MBA with 60% marks in aggregate

VIT Vellore PhD Selection Criteria

Final Selection is done on the basis of overall merit of candidate in the previous qualifying examination at Master’s level and performance in written test (VITREE) followed by research output and performance in personal interview.
