Course Duration

The Full-time Ph.D. program at Amit University is offered for a minimum duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 years divided into 12 semesters.
While the part-time Ph.D. program is offered or a minimum duration of 4.5 years divided into 9 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 years divided into 12 semesters.

Prescribed Coursework

Ph.D. candidates are expected to complete the course work assignment within the stipulated time. An exam will also be conducted.
The coursework will be for a period of 6 months.
Minimum 75% attendance is required during the residency period.
Credits will be earned only if the candidate secures a minimum of 7 points out of a 10-point scale or a B+ grade.
The candidate will be given a second chance, if they are unable to secure the minimum required marks in the second chance their registration will be canceled. The course work will be for a semester.

Comprehensive Examination

After the completion of the course work, the candidate will be required to take an examination.
The examination will test the candidate on his/her knowledge of their field of study.
The comprehensive examination will consist of both oral and written examination.
In order to pass the candidate should secure at least the grade B or 6 points out of a 10-point scale.

Open Seminar

After the successful completion of the Comprehensive Examination, Ph.D. students will have to conduct an open-seminar on the topic which they have chosen for their thesis.

Synopsis and Thesis Submission

Ph.D. Scholars shall produce the synopsis and thesis submission within the stipulated time period as prescribed in the curriculum of the Ph.D.
