Amity University, Lucknow - Course & Fees Details

Amity University offers a full-time and part-time Ph.D. program in various specializations. Admissions for the Ph.D. course is conducted twice a year, in January and July. 

Research programs are available in 16 disciplines such as English, Mass Communication, Psychology, Biotechnology, Education, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical, and Automation Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Commerce, Law, Management, Physics, Applied Chemistry, and Mathematics. 

The full-time Ph.D. is for a minimum duration of 3 years while part-time is for at least 4.5 years. The maximum time period to complete the course is 6 years.

The minimum eligibility to apply for the Ph.D. program offered at Amity University is a Master’s Degree. The selection of the candidates is done on the basis of an entrance exam followed by a personal interview and Viva-Voce.

Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. program offered at Amity University, Lucknow shall fulfill the following eligibility criteria: 

• Must have passed a two years Master’s degree or M.Phil. Degree in the relevant subject from any recognized University.
• Candidates have to secure a minimum of 55% aggregate marks to be eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program of Amity University.

Admission to the Ph.D. program offered at Amity University, Lucknow will be granted on the basis of Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) followed by an interview and viva-voce.

Amity University, Lucknow Ph.D. Course Details

 Amity University, Lucknow offers a Ph.D. program in a total of 16 specializations in various fields of which the details are tabulated below:

Ph.D. Scholar Category

The Ph.D. mode option (Full time/Part-time) permitted against each category as mentioned below:

• Sponsored Candidate
• Regular Self - Financed Candidate
• Corporate Research Scholar
• Working Faculty outside Amity
• Candidates working as JRF/SRF/RA
• Candidates working as JRF/SRF/RA in Research Projects in Amity
• Amity Research Fellow (ARF)

Course Duration

• The Full-time Ph.D. program at Amit University is offered for a minimum duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 years divided into 12 semesters. 
• While the part-time Ph.D. program is offered or a minimum duration of 4.5 years divided into 9 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 years divided into 12 semesters. 

Prescribed Coursework 

• Ph.D. candidates are expected to complete the course work assignment within the stipulated time. An exam will also be conducted.
• The coursework will be for a period of 6 months.
• Minimum 75% attendance is required during the residency period.
• Credits will be earned only if the candidate secures a minimum of 7 points out of a 10-point scale or a B+ grade.
• The candidate will be given a second chance, if they are unable to secure the minimum required marks in the second chance their registration will be canceled. The course work will be for a semester.

Comprehensive Examination

• After the completion of the course work, the candidate will be required to take an examination.
• The examination will test the candidate on his/her knowledge of their field of study.
• The comprehensive examination will consist of both oral and written examination.
• In order to pass the candidate should secure at least the grade B or 6 points out of a 10-point scale.

Open Seminar

After the successful completion of the Comprehensive Examination, Ph.D. students will have to conduct an open-seminar on the topic which they have chosen for their thesis. 

Synopsis and Thesis Submission

Ph.D. Scholars shall produce the synopsis and thesis submission within the stipulated time period as prescribed in the curriculum of the Ph.D.

Amity University provides various research assistantships to full-time scholars to be a part of the ongoing projects in the University. The Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) awards Fellowships to brilliant young researchers and scientists. Fellowships are available in all disciplines and are not restricted in number. The candidate must have a first-class academic record throughout up to a Master's Degree from a recognized college / University.
