Established in 2013, the Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli (IIITT), popularly known as IIIT Trichy, is a National Institute sponsored entirely by the Govt. of India, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, and industry partners. It is one of the 20 IIITs that MHRD has suggested be implemented under the nonprofit Public-Private Partnership Model. The industry partners of the institution include ELCOT, Navitas, Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Infosys, and Ramco Systems.

IIIT Trichy Campus

As of July 2021, IIIT Trichy operates entirely from its permanent campus in Sethurapatti, Tiruchirappalli. The permanent campus of IIITT is located near Sethurappatti, Tiruchirappalli, on roughly 62 acres of land. The campus of IIIT Trichy is located 15 kilometers from Tiruchirappalli Junction. IIIT Trichy is located 10 kilometers from Viralimalai Town, Pudukkottai District, on the Tiruchirappalli-Madurai route. The campus is fully operational via its permanent campus.
