The Delhi University (DU) undergraduate admission process starts with the online application release in March. Some courses, such as BMMMC, require entrance exams, while others like CS honors rely on cutoff percentages. In 2016, a 94% score cleared the third or fourth CS honors cutoff, with Physics as a mandatory subject. Cutoff lists are generally out by late June, initiating admissions. The admission procedure includes course selection and document verification, potentially taking 5-6 hours.
Students can switch colleges within DU after new cutoff lists. The faculty is highly qualified, offering guidance and mentor-mentee sessions for future planning. The academic schedule includes an end-semester exam and internal tests. First-year fees are INR 40,000, later ranging from INR 35,000 to 38,000, with an extra INR 1,000 per semester for exams. Hostel fees are around INR 1,30,000 per year, and PG accommodation ranges from INR 7,000 to 15,000.
Students pay separately for exams and merchandise. Laptops are available for rent during the three-year course. The placement cell, J.E.E.T., offers opportunities from the 5th semester, with top recruiters like DE Shaw and Deloitte. The highest package is 22 LPA, with averages between 4-12 LPA. Around 20-70% of students, particularly in commerce and computer science, engage in placements. Internships, lasting 3-6 months, are available in various fields and can be paid or unpaid.
Many graduates pursue further studies. Scholarships are offered for high achievers and financially challenged students, especially those earning less than 2 lakhs annually. Scholarships are based on merit and background, including military and sports. Internships are available for all years with stipends up to INR 15,000, while final-year students see starting salaries of 3.5 LPA in placements. The annual fee totals INR 50,000, accumulating to INR 200,000 over four years, with financial aid options available.
