Phase 1: Shortlisting for GD and PI
The minimum requirement of marks for various categories is mentioned in the table below.

The eligible shortlisted based on the above method of qualifying CAT cut off will be segregated as per their academic disciplines.
For each academic discipline, a certain percentage of candidates (represented by α) will be shortlisted for the GD and PI.

Phase 2: Merit Listing for Admission Offer to Candidates
- After GD & PI, the scores of PI will be used along with the academic and overall CAT performance to prepare the final merit list. The scores to be used are mentioned below which will further be normalized:
- V: Score based on work experience- 10%
- W: Score based on gender- 5%
- X: Score based on academic performance in Xth, XIIth- 15%
- Y: Score in PI- 40%
- Z: Overall CAT Absolute Score- 30%
- Different cut-off scores will be used to judge candidates' performance in GD and PI. Also, marks obtained in GD will not be used while calculating the final scores of a candidate.

IIM Shillong shortlisting criteria
The shortlisting of the candidates depends upon the available seats, CAT score, and performance in the GD and PI round. In addition to this, the past academic performance of the candidate is also taken into account. Some of the other basic criterion have been listed below:
- Minimum 75 percentile in CAT score in all sections (Quantitative aptitude, Data interpretation and logic reasoning, and Verbal and reading comprehension) is needed to get selected to further process.
- There is no overall minimum percentile in CAT.
- If you fail to score the minimum 75 percentile slab in all sections of the CAT exam, then you will not be selected to the final stage selection process.
- If the candidate has scored well in the past academic season, then he/she will be awarded higher points for it.
- Bachelor's degree marks are not given any weightage.
- It is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates to appear for the PI and GD round, failing to attend any of this will lead to cancellation of the candidature.
- Based on the CAT scores, all candidates will be segregated. Taking into consideration their academic results and stream they have applied to, the candidates will be selected for the next round of selection.
- Category wise shortlisting is also done, i.e. differently abled, Scheduled caste, Scheduled tribe, EWS, OBC and General category.
- In the final stage, the candidates who are shortlisted get an intimation through email, phone number and also on the IIM Shillong website. The candidates will get the SMS on the mobile number that is provided by them on the CAT 2022 form.
IIM Shillong: Fees and Seat Intake
- For two years, a candidate needs to pay a fee of INR 15 lakhs.
- IIM Shillong takes in 180 students as approved. However, there is a possibility of increasing the number of seats.
Eligibility Criteria for IIM Shillong
- The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree of 3 years after 12th. He/She should have scored a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA. However, IIM Shillong offers relaxation for the candidates belonging to PwD/SC/ST categories. For them, it is 45%.
- The candidate should appear in CAT 2022 for meeting the mandatory eligibility criteria. He/She should also score the minimum 75 percentile in all sections.
- If the candidate has been scored in CGPA instead of marks, then weightage will be given to the certificate providing university or institute from where the Bachelor's degree has been awarded.
- Candidates who have appeared the final year exam of their Bachelor's degree and awaiting the results can apply for admission into IIM Shillong. Such candidates need to provide a certificate from the Head of the institute or Registrar stating that the candidate has appeared for the final year examination and has secured 50% marks (45% for exclusive categories) based on latest exam grades.

Question: What is the selection procedure for CAT 2022 admission in IIMs and other participating B-Schools?
Ans. Generally, the IIMs and other participating B-Schools shortlist candidates for admission through a 2-3 stage selection process comprising of a round of Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion, and Personal Interview (PI).
