University of Petroleum and Energy sources offers Bachelor’s in Technology and started as the first program since its inception. Out of many programs UPES offers, the flagship program that led it to rank prominently was the Applied Petroleum Engineering (Gas and Upstream). Very few colleges and in Asia have been able to introduce this specialisation and make it the only suited choice to opt for. Pursuing the same course abroad makes it difficult for aspiring students as the cost to study is relatively high.

Some of the Scholarships are given away to the deserving and meritorious students are:

• Merit Based Scholarship: 

Students with scores 80%+ in 10th and 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects are offered scholarship amounts. The amount given is equal to 50% of the 1st-semester tuition fee. 10% of the students in each branch get to enjoy these scholarship benefits.

•  Uttarakhand State Board Toppers: 

This scholarship is provided to one student per program. The candidate must avail the scholarship being under one category, either the Uttarakhand resident category or the Uttarakhand Board Toppers category. For the first year, 25% of the fees will be waived off for boys and 35% for girls. Mandatory Document: Candidate must have a valid legal resident Certificate proof with them in order to avail the scholarship. 

• JEE toppers and Board Merit Tuition fee waiver:

Based on JEE Main scores and Board merit, the tuition fee of the selected candidates will get waived off, according to the marks scored. The table below illustrates the criteria to avail it. 

The application procedure for UPES has already begun. The last date of filing the online application form is May 3, 2020. Candidates can apply through the JEE Main scores via Central Counselling. They can also enroll for the UPESEAT exam conducted by UPES for B.Tech aspirants. The test comprises of 200 Questions on the following subjects;

The basic eligibility of the program is a completion of 10+2 level of education with 50% in 10th and 12th standard with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics in the latter one. Candidates with 80%+ can also make through the admission under BOARD MERIT PATHWAY scheme

UPES B.Tech Placement Trends

Placements at UPES have skyrocketed like every time, taking to the next higher level. Out of 1243 students in the School of Engineering, 893 students applied for availing placement opportunities. 805 got placed making it a 90% placement turnover, way better than tier-II colleges in India. 

In the School of Computer Science, 637 students applied for the placements and all of them got placed in the bigger giants in the IT industry.

Majority of the recruiters were from Manufacturing, Oil and Gas and from the IT software domain. Sector Wise, Oil and Gas companies offered the highest package of 20.6 LPA followed by Service & Retail and Consulting. 

Bringing an icing to the cake, Aviation & Aerospace industries have also poured in their interest in hiring students. India’s famous budget airlines, Indigo, recruited students from UPES last year.
