Dr. Mohammad Rizwan Khan is the Director in the Shivajirao Kadam Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research. He has 18 years of teaching and industrial experience. He has completed M.Pharm from School of Pharmacy, R.G.P.V. Bhopal and B.Pharm from S.G.S.I.T.S., Indore. He also did PhD from D.A.V.V., Indore on the Topic Design, Synthesis and Evaluation of Antifungal Drugs. He is an active member of Pharmaceutical Teachers Society known as APTI. Several papers are published by him in national and international papers. He has also received an award from the Ministry of HRD for securing 42 nd rank in M.P. Board Examination in 12 th Standard in 1996.

What is your experience with the education industry?

“To seek knowledge, teach students and be innovative”

I have been working in the education industry for 15 years. We focus on overall development of an individual through personality and character. A teacher plays roles like mentor, counselor, advisor and psychologist. Education industry has enormous opportunities nowadays. Several students enrolled in higher education in the academic year 2018-19. My duty as an educator is to act as a nation builder and make proud of industry. We tie up with many foreign universities for the benefits of students. They get international exposure and develop skills to reach the zenith of their career.

What is your leadership philosophy?

“Follow participative leadership and get feedback from students to make changes on campus”

My leadership style is democratic leadership along with participative leadership. We follow a basic model in the organization and take feedback from students. Participation of each employee for strategic planning and implementation of policies. Our campus believes that each individual has unique working abilities and capabilities. It can be utilized for the growth of the institution. The feedback mechanism is followed to improve the quality of teaching and practical facilities.

Any challenges you faced as the Director of Shivajirao Kadam Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research?

“To maintain campus reputation, and perform research activities on campus”

One of the biggest challenges is to maintain the reputation of the institute. All round development of the student is a priority instead of normal academic excellence. Our pupils give the best performance in extracurricular activities. I try to maintain the decorum of the institute by providing the best facilities and environment for students. We motivate the faculty and students for performing research activities lacking on campus.

How does the curriculum of Shivajirao Kadam Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research ensure best practice of industry?

“Workshop, practical demonstrations, industrial visits, industrial training, and skill up programs are available for students”

Our campus is affiliated under R.G.P.V. Bhopal and follows university course curriculum. Several academic activities such as workshops, practical demonstrations, industrial visits, industrial training, and skill up programs are available for students. Hence, students are acquainted with the latest techniques implemented in industry.

What are the various changes in the Education Industry over the past few years?

“Governed by technology, online materials and technological teaching aids are recent growth in the education sector”

The world is governed by technology oriented education and industry has changed a lot today. All the materials are available online for students in the form of lectures. They can watch video lectures for practical implementation of theoretical phenomena. The situation is mainly handled by teachers by updating their knowledge. It is the right tool for getting current updates. Regular FDP conductions are imparted on campus to improve the quality of teaching. Recent technological teaching aids make the lectures effective and interesting.

How do you tend to establish a relation with students and Shivajirao Kadam Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research? 

“Organize interactive sessions, motivate students and take their feedback to maintain a healthy environment on campus”

The backbone of institutions are students and their overall development is our top priority. We organize interactive sessions with students daily. Also, we follow a feedback system in the Institute. So, every student can give his/ her feedback directly to available facility. We motivate the students to participate in every social and academic activity conducted by the institution. It is my responsibility to send the students for competitions and motivate them to give their best. 

What goals do you have in mind about the institute for the next few years?

“Foreign university collaborations, NAAC & NBA Accreditation and researching”

Our campus is famous for academic excellence. Some of the goals we need to achieve in the future such as industrial collaborations and foreign university collaborations. We need to be accredited with NAAC & NBA, and Research projects from government bodies. All these are top priorities for the next 10 years. 

How could your university welcome students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Provide scholarships for merit students from the campus”

We Provide all the facilities to students from different races. Our campus gives various scholarships for merit students. Most scholarships are from the government of Madhya Pradesh for different category students from economically weaker sections. 

What do you see as Shivajirao Kadam Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research’s greatest strength?

“Leadership under which the institute is running, students and faculties are our greatest strengths”

One of the greatest strengths is the leadership under which the institute is running. Our Chairman is an eminent academician, administrator and institution builder. He held prominent positions in various government bodies like UGC, PCI, NAAC etc. We transformed into one of the leading pharmacy research institutions of India under his leadership. Students and faculties are also the greatest strength of campus.

Any suggestions do you like to give for current youth and aspiring students?

“Have patience, your struggles are never wasted”

Today’s world is highly competitive and one should always remember the basic laws given by Darwin's “Struggle for Existence” & “Survival of the Fittest”. This is the real truth so always be prepared for the struggle and have patience you will achieve all you desire. I follow only one philosophy that is “Punctuality is a Passport of Success”.
