If I am getting COEP CS or mechanical and ICT Mumbai chemical, which one I should choose?

AM
Ankita Mishra Posted On : July 4th, 2022
Studied at College of Engineering, Pune

You should choose COEP CS. The placement record for the branch is excellent. If you maintain good grades for four years and have the required skills, getting good placement opportunities won’t be difficult.

TCS, Accenture, Infosys, etc. are some of the major recruiters that recruit CS students through campus placements. The highlights of COEP placements show the average CTC for CSE to be around INR 6.5 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 30 LPA.

RS
Ritu Sinha Posted On : September 15th, 2020
B.Tech computer science from Chandigarh Engineering College (2019)

CGC Landran, while a good university, does not offer any programs in B Tech chemical engineering. Students can opt for any other B.Tech programs in Mechanical, Computer Science, or Electronics and Communication Engineering at CGC.

DCRUST Murthal offers a program in Chemical Engineering. Some of the specifics regarding the same are mentioned below:

Eligibility:

  • In order to be eligible for admission at DCRUST Murthal, students will have to provide JEE MAIN scores and pass 10+2 grade with 75% and physics, math or biology and chemistry as their subject.
  • Admission is mainly made on the basis of inter-se-merit of JEE MAIN.
  • CGC Landran has a similar admission eligibility criteria.

Fee Structure:

The fee structure of DCRUST has been compared with CGC Landran. However, this is only for the purpose of comparison as CGC Landran does not offer this course.

DCRUST Murthal B. Tech (1st Year Fee)

CGC Landran B. Tech (1st Year Fee)

INR 55,150

INR 92,000

Placements:

  • CGC Landran has the highest offered package at 35 lakhs per annum whereas the highest package offered at DCRUST Murthal is about 10 lakhs per annum.

The placement scenario of the Chemical Engineering department at IIT Delhi is great. I asked a friend about the exact scenario because the institute does not release branch-wise details. As per the info I got from him, most students of the branch get placed.

  • In the previous two years, approximately 85-90% of students got placed.
  • The average salary package offered is 17 LPA–18 LPA.
  • The roles offered are SDE, consultant, financial analyst, and product manager.
  • Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Microsoft, NK Securities, Graviton, and more.
  • Internships are also offered to most students. Some of them get PPOs.
  • The highest salary package offered is 50 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 10 LPA. The average salary package offered is 12 LPA.
  • Top recruiting companies like Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Industries, Reddy Company, etc., visit our campus.

So the placements are great, you need the skills to make the most out of them!

Which is better, IIT BHU for chemical or IIT Tirupati for electrical?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : July 4th, 2023

IIT BHU and IIT Tirupati have their strengths and the choice depends upon your preferences.

  • IIT BHU- If you want a placement with a high package and it does not bother you whether you get placed in a core or non-core profile, IIT BHU Chemical is the right choice for you. The choice is also right for you if you can live in a crowded city and want a shared campus (IIT BHU shares its campus with Banaras Hindu University). Most people from the Chemical department go for non-core jobs since they offer better packages. IIT BHU also has a strong alumni base and the fame of the institution is a big highlight for students.

You can also join IIT BHU Chemical and try for a branch change. You will easily get ECE or EEE with some effort. In case you get stuck with Chemical, do not worry and go for non-core placements which are mostly open for all the branches.

Most placements at IIT BHU are in the non-core profiles.

  • IIT Tirupati- If you want to pursue Electrical Engineering, you want to end up in a core profile, and you are ready to settle down for a comparatively lower package, you should go for IIT Tirupati Electrical. It is a good option if you wish to become a notable alumnus of your institution and become part of a newly established and growing IIT. You will, however, not get access to an alumni network because IIT Tirupati is a very new institution (established in 2015). The campus has high-speed internet and is situated in the mountains. Sports facilities are also provided at IIT Tirupati.

Here are the course-fees & placement statistics for IIT BHU Chemical and IIT Tirupati Electrical-

Parameters

IIT BHU Chemical

IIT Tirupati Electrical
