All these colleges are premier institutes of the country, and are considered to be the best to pursue engineering. At the present, CSE is the most sought-after branch as it attracts lucrative offers and quite a lot of opportunities in the market.

Many governments funded and internationally collaborative research projects are being carried out by the highly qualified faculty in the relatively older IITs like Mandi, Ropar and the students here get an opportunity to curate and shape innovative ideas under them. Infrastructurally they are almost at par with all facilities available, but the newer IITs like Dharwad are currently functional in transit campus so all facilities cannot be availed as of now. Hence, it is up to the student to choose a given course in a particular college.
You can go with the option of IIT Mandi. The recruiters from CSE offer high job packages every year to the students. IIT Mandi is the best place to change your branch to CSE, as it is one of the most competitive fields. You will be placed in a good company with high packages as a fresher in your favorite CSE field. When compared with the semi-new IITs, the best option would be Mandi. For other IITs, branch change might be a difficult task. Over the last three years, about 167 students got enrolled for placements; among them, 156 were placed. So IIT Mandi is a good choice.
If I had to choose from IIT Ropar, IIT Gandhinagar, and IIT Roorkee, I would have gone for IIT Ropar. Let’s compare the institutes and their branches individually.
IIT Ropar and IIT Gandhinagar (CS):
IIT Ropar CS and IIT Roorkee EE:
All in all, IIT Ropar CSE offers better job opportunities, and thus the general preference order looks like
IIT Ropar CSE >> IIT Roorkee EE >~ IIT GN CSE.
For a career in Graphic Designing, the best option for you is to take up Master’s in Graphic Design. This program is offered by several IITs and design institutes in India.
Here are the best institutes for Master’s in Graphic Design or Communication Design-
IITs hold the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) for admission into their M.Des. Institutes like NID, NIFT, etc. have their own entrance exams for admissions into the Master’s.
Most of the design colleges are open to graduates from all disciplines, given that one clears the entrance test for a Master’s. However, IITs take in students with a graduation in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or an MSc., or students with a background in Arts/Computer Applications.
Basically, you can opt for Graphic Designing courses after a B.Tech in any branch.
Let’s consider both scenarios individually to get a better understanding. YMCA CS is a decent option only if you are interested in the field because the opportunities are mostly limited to IT companies. There aren’t many options for further studies.
However, if you go for Electrical/Civil Engineering at NIT Kurukshetra, then you can change your branch at the end of the first year depending upon your CGPA in the first year. In NIT Kurukshetra even the IT companies offer better packages than YMCA. If you are not able to change your branch you can get placed in PSUs. Electrical engineering students also get to choose their profile in their final year amongst Software, power, and control. So you have the flexibility to choose the field in which you want to get placed. You don't have to stick to the branch you took initially. This won’t be possible if you take YMCA CS.
Here is a brief comparison of these institutes

An advantage of choosing NIT Kurukshetra over YMCA is the crowd quality and the NIT tag while YMCA offers a better location and higher growth prospects in the IT field as compared to electrical/Civil where the opportunities are limited.
So make your choice wisely!
I am listing down certain parameters for a better comparison between both these options-
Both the colleges are really good. I would recommend you make your decision based on the branch you are interested in studying.
IIT BHU is among the top Engineering colleges in India. NIRF 2020 has ranked IIT BHU in the 11th position for BTech. The average placement rate for all branches at the institute is 71%.
Electronics Engineering:
From the Electronics Engineering department at IIT-BHU, almost 95% of the students get placed each year. Placements of Electronics are par with Computer Science Placements.
Electrical Engineering:
The Electrical Department has very good placement records over the years. In last year’s placement, around 90% of the students from the department were placed.
Besides this all the Non-Core Sector Companies in the domain Analytics, Business, Management, Consultancies, etc. offer jobs in both departments but some software companies are open only for Electronics but generally overall companies visiting the campus for Electronics and Electrical Engineering are nearly the same. Hence according to the statistics, the placements of the Electronics Department are better than the Electrical Engineering Department.
Both IIT Mandi and IIIT Allahabad are reputable institutions with strong programs in their respective fields. IIT Mandi offers an Electrical Engineering program, while IT Allahabad offers an Information Technology program. If you are interested in pursuing a career in electrical engineering, then IT Mandi would be the better choice. On the other hand, if you are more interested in information technology and computer science, then IT Allahabad would be the better choice. It is important to note that both programs are challenging and will require a significant amount of hard work and dedication. I recommend researching both institutions and their programs thoroughly before making a decision and considering your own interests and career goals.
I am the right person to answer your question because my brother is a student of IIIT Allahabad and is pursuing an IT dual degree while my elder setter is pursuing an EE at IIT Mandi. I can give you a better insight into the combined scenario as I have knowledge of both sides.
IIT Mandi Electrical
IIIT Allahabad IT
Location-wise, both give an edge to each other with IIITAhmadabad at a slight advantage. Overall, if you prefer a more dynamic campus life, IIT Mandi is for you but if you are just fixated on placements and academics, IIIT Allahabad is a better choice.
If you haven't received a branch in IIT Mandi or any of the old IITs for Electrical, don't even take a second thought about joining new IITs like ISM or BHU. The name "IIT" doesn't matter, it's the brand and quality that matters. And in this matter, BITS is way ahead of any new IIT/ISM/BHU.
Don't go for new IITs under the false impression that "They are also IITs." Ultimately, your career matters, not what anyone else thinks.
The name of the college is just one factor to consider when choosing a college. The quality of education, the faculty, the facilities, the placements, and other such factors are equally important. So, don't make a decision solely based on the name of the college.
Also, keep in mind that BITS Pilani has a great reputation and offers excellent opportunities for students. It has a strong alumni network, good industry connections, and a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. So, if you have the opportunity to join BITS Pilani for ENI, go for it without any hesitation.
Don't get swayed by the name of the college. Instead, focus on the quality of education and the opportunities that the college offers. And if you have the chance to join BITS Pilani, don't even think twice about it.
My brother was able to get EE in all the second-generation IITs except Indore and Gandhinagar. Despite various options, he chose IIT Mandi after considering a number of reasons stated below.
Ultimately, consider your personal preferences while making the final decision.
