IIT Patna MTech Eligibility Criteria

To seek admission to MTech program, students have to fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

• Applicants should have a B.Tech / B.E / M.Sc degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
• Students must have at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale in graduation (For SC/ ST 55% marks).
• Final year students yet to appear for their final examination are also eligible to apply.

Exceptions: 

• B.Tech students from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 8.0 need not appear for GATE.
• Sponsored candidates with at least 60% CGPA are eligible to apply with 2 years of experience. These candidates are not required to submit GATE scores.

IIT Patna MTech Admission Criteria

Candidates will be shortlisted for the M.Tech program on the basis of their GATE score. Then, there will be an Interview round conducted for final selection of the candidates.

• GATE exam carries 70% weightage and Interview round carries 30% weightage. 
• Candidates have to report at the IIT Patna Campus for Personal Interview (PI) round.
• In the PI round, the skills that the candidate will be assessed for will be Basic Science, Engineering and other related areas.
• Applicants who qualify both stages of the selection process will be considered for admission to the M.Tech program.

IIT Patna MTech Application Process

Candidates who wish to apply can submit their applications on the institute's website. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted.

• Students applying for more than one program, have to submit the separate application for each program.
• Applicants have to pay an application fee of INR 300 at the time of online registration. The same can be paid in online mode through net banking, credit card, and debit card.
• The hard copy of duly filled application form along with all the required documents and e-receipt send it to the address given below:

How to Apply for IIT Patna MTech?

• Visit the official website i.e. www.iitp.ac.in/.
• Click on the admission link
• Register by using your email id and password
• Login after the confirmation of email
• Fill application form with required information
• Upload the scan copy of signature and photograph
• The image size should be less than 50kb
• Save the application form
• Pay application fee either of the available mode
• Take the print out of application form for future reference
• Send application form to the prescribed address

GATE 2024 COAP Registration Process

After passing the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counseling process to secure their admission into IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Program in the participating Institutes. 

Eligibility Criteria to Register for COAP 2024

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2024/2022/2f021.

GATE 2024 COAP Step by Step Registration Process:

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2024 by simply following the below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.

Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, date of birth.

Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.

Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.

Step 5: After the registration is successfully done for COAP 2024, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.

Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered as complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.

Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made from the participating Institutes.

Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded at COAP website and will be tagged with COAP registration number (same as GATE registration number without subject code).

Financial Assistance

IIT Patna offers assistantship to regular Indian national students:

• A per month stipend of 12,400 with GATE score and upon qualifying the cut off level for M.Tech. programme is offered. 
• GATE score requirement is exempted for students with Bachelor’s degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with minimum CPI of 8.0. 
• Assistantships from external funding is also available, provided full details are extended prior to receiving it.
• Financial assistantship will be for a maximum period of 2 years till the last semester.
