IIT Gandhinagar Course Admissions 2024: Cutoff, Eligibility, Selection Process, Dates

IIT Gandhinagar offers a 4-years B.Tech program in 6 specializations with an intake of 30 students in each specialization. Admission to the IIT Gandhinagar BTech are done on through JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counseling. Given below are the specialization offered in BTech program.

IIT Gandhinagar B.Tech. Eligibility

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as main subjects.
• Candidates must also have a valid JEE Advanced score to apply for B.Tech.

IIT Gandhinagar B.Tech. Selection Criteria

• For admission to B.Tech., candidates need to appear in JEE Advanced exam.
• The qualified candidates have to register for JoSAA Counselling which will take place in 6 rounds.
• During this counselling, applicants have to fill their choices and lock them.
• In each counselling round seats will be allocated to students who meet the cutoffs as released by IIT Gandhinagar. 
• Applicants who will meet the cutoffs will be selected for admission to B.Tech course.

JEE Main Qualifying Cutoff

B.Tech admissions in IITs is based on JEE Advanced exam scores. Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the JEE Main examination are eligible to appear for the respected examination. The minimum qualifying marks for Unreserved category (General category) is set for 87.992241 and the maximum mark is 100. Those who have secured the minimum cutoff marks and are ranked under 2.5 lakh can appear for JEE Advanced 2022. The qualifying marks for each category is given in the table below:

IIT Gandhinagar B.Tech Cutoff 2023 (Expected)

IIT Gandhinagar B.Tech cutoff 2022 is the minimum rank to get admitted to the B.Tech program. The cutoff will be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The cutoff depends on various factors such as rank secured in the JEE Advanced examination, availability of seats, choice filling, reservation criteria, etc. JoSAA 2022 round 6 closing ranks for general category students are tabulated below:

IIT Gandhinagar offers admission in M.Tech & PGDIIT programs based on the written test and interview round. Candidates are shortlisted for the written and interview based on their academic record and GATE score. The final selection is done on the basis of all the above factors including academic record, GATE score, written test score and performance in interview.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

• Pass in B.E. /B.Tech./M.Sc. degree or equivalent to that with a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC /ST).
• Candidates should have a valid GATE score.
• For aspirants, applying for a part-time M.Tech or for the PGDIIT program are not required to have a GATE score.
• Candidates who have done their B.Tech from IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 or above is not required to have a GATE score.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Selection Criteria

The M.Tech selection criteria at IIT Gandhinagar include GATE exam score, Written Test, and Interview.

• Candidates are first required to appear for the GATE exam and score a good percentile in it.
• After the candidates have successfully cleared the GATE exam, the candidates are further shortlisted for the written examination by the institute based on their GATE exam score.
• Once the written exam is done, the candidates are further called for the interview round.
• A final merit list is then prepared based on GATE exam score, written test marks, and performance in the interview round.

Note:  For the shortlisting process at the initial stage, the institute considers GATE exam cutoff for the written test. Given below is the GATE cutoff for the previous year to give an idea to the candidates about the cutoff percentile of IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech program.

GATE 2023 Qualifying Cutoff (Expected)

GATE 2022 qualifying cutoff is the minimum mark required to register for the COAP 2022 counselling. There is a difference between the admission cutoff of the institute and minimum cutoff required for participation in the admission process/ counselling. Given below are the minimum cutoff marks that a candidate must score to qualify the GATE examination and register for the corresponding counselling process.

Early Admit M.Tech. Program

IIT GN offers an Early Admit M.Tech program. This program is available for B.Tech students of selected colleges, fulfilling the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.

• B.Tech. students from NITs and other select colleges (who will graduate in 2022 or have graduated in 2023) and are among the top five rank holders in the department at the end of their pre-final year and final year. 
• B.Tech. students from IITs (who will graduate in 2022 or have graduated in 2023) with a CPI/CGPA of not less than 6.0 at the end of their third year and fourth year respectively.

The selection of such candidates is based on past academic performance, written tests and/or personal interviews.

Apart from M.Tech, IIT Gandhinagar also offers MA and M.Sc. at PG level. M.Sc program is offered in 4 specializations i.e Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Cognitive Science.

M.A program is offered in Society and Culture discipline. The duration of both M.A and M.Sc programs is 2 years. 

IIT Gandhinagar PG Selection Criteria 

Selection Criteria for M.Sc

• Admission to M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is based on the IIT JAM exam.
• While admission to M.Sc. in Cognitive science is based on the written test and interview conducted by the IIT Gandhinagar itself.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Sc Cutoff 2023(Expected)

Selection Criteria for MA

• Admission to the MA program of IIT GN is based on entrance tests and interviews.
• The institute will call candidates for a written test and interview on the basis of their past academic record and aptitude for graduate study in humanities & social sciences.
• The final selection will depend upon academic records, aptitude for graduate studies, written test and interview
• IIT Gandhinagar may offer admission to a few outstanding candidates based on academic records without calling them for a written test and/or interview.
• The entrance test and interview round will be conducted at the institute.

Early Admit M.Sc Program

IIT GN offers an Early Admit M.Sc program in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. This program is for UG students of selected colleges, fulfilling the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.: 

• B.Sc. students from select colleges who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 and are among the top 5 rank holders in the departments at the end of their pre final year and final year respectively.
• B.Tech. students from NITs and select colleges who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 and are among the top 5 rank holders in the departments at the end of their pre-final year and final year respectively.
• B.Tech students from IITs who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 with a CPI/CGPA of not less than 6.0 at the end of their 3rd year and 4th year respectively are also eligible.

Selection of such candidates is based on past academic performance, written test and/or online interview.

How to Apply?

• Click on the Apply option available under Admission tab
• Now click on the application link of desired course and fill out the application form with all the required details.
• After the application is filled, proceed to pay a requisite application fee
• Lastly, submit the duly-filled application form.
• Upon successful submission, an application number and link to download the application will be sent to the student.
• Save the application for future reference.

NOTE - There is no application fee for the Early Admit M.Sc. program. Also, candidates need not to furnish the hardcopy of application form for the program.

IITGN offers Ph.D program in 19 specializations. The duration of Ph.D program is 4 years. 

There are two admission categories for Ph.D at IIT Gandhinagar: 

• Regular - For full-time residential research candidates
• Continuing doctoral Program (CDP) - For working candidates or faculty in any educational institute.

IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. Eligibility

Candidates must have at least 55% marks or 5.5 CPI marks in B.Tech/ MA/ M.Sc./ M.Tech degree or its equivalent in relevant discipline at institute level.

IIT Gandhinagar Ph.D. Selection Criteria

• Selection of candidates for Ph.D. program is based on interview and a written test if necessary.
• Students will be called for a written test and/or interview based on academic record, statement of purpose, etc.
• The final selection is done on the basis of academic record/ written test and/or personal interview.
• Candidates with GATE/SLET/CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/INSPIRE Fellowship need not to appear in the written test.

Start Early Ph.D.

IIT Gandhinagar offers full-time residential Start Early Ph.D. Fellowship. This fellowship enables B.Tech students to gain early entry into the Ph.D. programmes at IIT Gandhinagar. The minimum eligibility required for this fellowships is as follows:

• B.Tech students from NITs and select colleges who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 and are among the top 5 rank holders in the departments at the end of their pre-final year and final year respectively.
• BTech students from IITs who will graduate in 2021 or have graduated in 2020 with a CPI/CGPA of not less than 6.0 at the end of their 3rd year and 4th year respectively can also apply.

Admission to Start Early Ph.D. is based on past academic performance, written test and/or personal interview.

Key Points:

• GATE score is not compulsory for Start Early Ph.D. Fellowship.
• Monthly stipend of INR 41,000/- per month with valid GATE score and INR 31,000/- per month without GATE score.

How to Apply for Ph.D.?

1. Go to the official website of IIT Gandhinagar
2. Select Ph.D. course from Programs tab available below Admissions.
3. Now click on ‘Apply’ option and then on Application
4. Register by providing details.
5. Upon successful registration, login using email id and password.
6. Fill the application form with all personal and qualification details.
7. Now pay the application fee of INR 200/- (INR 100/- for SC/ST/PD category)
8. Lastly, submit the application form.
9. After submission, an application number and link to download the form will be sent to candidates.
10. Applicants need to save the application form.
