VTU M.Tech Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to apply in VTU, must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must have passed the prescribed qualifying examinations with not less than 50% of the marks in aggregate.
- The candidates should be GATE qualified or should have appeared for the Entrance Examination conducted by an authority recognized by the Government of Karnataka.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST, marks shall not be less than 45%.

VTU M.Tech Selection Criteria
- Candidates will be selected on the basis of scores in GATE or Kartanaka PGCET examinations.
- Candidates seeking admission under the sponsored category, should be GATE qualified or should have appeared for the Entrance Examination conducted by an authority recognized by Government of Karnataka PGCET/VTU/any other University on approval by Government of Karnataka.
- In case a GATE qualified Candidate appears for entrance examination and become qualified to claim a seat under entrance examination quota, he/she will be considered in the order of merit along with other candidates appeared for the entrance examination.
VTU M.Tech Application Process
Application forms are available on the official website of VTU. Information filled in the application form must match the information present in the documents attached with the application form. Candidature will be cancelled if any discrepancy is found during the application process. Candidates must provide a valid email ID and mobile number for further contact. The steps to apply are:

- Click on Admission tab
- Select the applied program you wish to apply
- Fill the application form with all the required details
- Upload the documents and pay application fee.
- Verify the information and click Submit button.

VTU M.Tech Reservation
VTU follows the reservation policy as specified by the Government and AICTE. Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and PwD category. Also, seats will be reserved for GATE qualified candidates (for M.Tech courses). In case seats remain vacant after allotment to GATE qualified candidates, the distribution of reservation will be as follows:
- 90% of the seats will be reserved for Karnataka candidates.
- 10% of the seats will be reserved for Non-Karnataka candidates.

Ques. Can I get direct admission to M.Tech at VTU?
Ans. No, VTU does not accept direct admission to the M.Tech program. Admissions are done on the basis of scores GATE or PGCET entrance examination.

Degree at VTU and who have successfully completed the prescribed common coursework of the first three semesters of study with a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70% aggregate marks are eligible for upgradation to the I.Ph.D. Programme, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee.
