HITS Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Technology (HITS), also known as Hindustan University, Chennai which provides various undergraduate, post-graduate, diploma, and pioneering research studies through Ph.D., M.S. (by research) and M.Phil. programmes.

It has collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Aeronautical Research & Development Board, Indian Space Research Organisation, Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Resources and Defence Research & Development Organisation, Naval Research Board, Department of Electronics, IGCAR, Atomic energy agencies and other organizations which support the institution either by giving funds for research projects or providing technical support for tackling the challenging research issues of national interest.

Eligibility

Hindustan University offers MS programme in the following disciplines:

• Engineering / Technology
• Management Science

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate must have the minimum educational qualification mentioned below or any other equivalent qualification as approved by the Board of Management:

For Engineering / Technology: Candidate must have a B. E. / B. Tech. or A. M. I. E. / A. M. Ae. S. I. or M. Sc. in relevant subjects.

For Management Science: Candidate must have a Master's Degree in Commerce / Economics / Psychology / Statistics / Applied Mathematics or B.E. / B. Tech. in any branch engineering.

Candidate must have passed the qualifying examination mentioned above with first class. If no class was awarded in the qualifying examination then you should have obtained a minimum of 60 percent marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a ten-point scale.

If candidates have a teaching or industrial experience of more than six years, you may be admitted with a second class or a minimum of 55 percent marks is permissible.

For S.C. / S.T. candidates: Second class with a minimum of 55 percent marks is permissible.

Reservation

The reservation policy of the institute will be as per the norms prescribed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Admission Process

If candidates possess the educational qualifications as given above, they are called for an interview and / or test by the Dean PG Research Office. No TA will be paid for attending interview/tests. But if you are a foreign national, you may be considered without an interview or test.

Based on the academic records and performance in the interview/test, the selection committee will recommend to the Dean (Research), the names of the candidates found suitable for admission to the programme. Admission offer will be issued by the Admission Office.

How to Apply?

1. Candidates can download the Application form from the HITS website . There is a common form for Ph.D., MS as well as M.Phil.
2. Candidates must pay by a DD for Rs 500/- drawn in favour of HINDUSTAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY and SCIENCE and made payable at CHENNAI.
3. Candidates must submit all the required documents along with the application form
