AMU BA admission 2023 is ongoing. The revised counseling-cum-admission schedule for BA (Hons.) programs has been released and the last date to register for Counseling Round 2 is July 21. The document verification for the same can be completed from July 22-23. The firm list 2 for BA (Hons.) will be displayed on July 26-27. The last date for acceptance of admission & payment of fees by candidates on firm list 2 is July 30.
AMU offers admission to BA (Hons.) in Hindi, Sanskrit, and Persian courses through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by NTA. Admission to the remaining specializations of BA (Hons.) will be based on the AMU entrance exam. AMU BA Eligibility Criteria
Aligarh Muslim University provides BA course in Communications, Social Science, Honours in International Languages, and many other streams. Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned below:
- Candidates must have qualified 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized institute with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- Candidates must have studies English and three subjects from Accountancy/ Arabic/ Banking/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Business Organization/ Business Studies/ Chemistry/ Commerce/ Computer Science/ Economics/ Education/ English/ Fine Arts/ Geography/ Hindi/ History/ Home Science/ Islamic Studies/ Mathematics/ Persian/ Philosophy/ Physical Health Education/ Physics/ Political Science/ Civics/ Psychology/ Sanskrit/ Sociology/ Statistics/ Urdu and Modern Indian Languages (Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, and Kashmiri).
- Candidates with Degree/ Sanad from recognized Madrasa/ Institution with at least 50% marks are also eligible.
- Candidates with Bridge Course-Senior Secondary School Certificate from AMU with 50% marks in aggregate can also apply for BA programme.
- Candidates must not be more than 24 years of age as on 01 July in the year of admission.
BA Theology:
- Apart from above mentioned eligibility criteria, Level V from Darul Uloom Deoband/ Mazahirul Uloom Saharanpur/ Madarsatul Islah, Saraimeer, Azamgarh is considered equivalent to qualifying examination for BA (Hons) Sunni Theology.
- Diploma in Shia Theology from AMU is considered equivalent to qualifying examination for BA (Hons) Shia Theology.

AMU BA Admission Process 2023
- The selection for BA (Hons.) in Hindi, Sanskrit, and Persian courses will be done through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by NTA.
- Selection for the remaining BA courses will be done on the basis of the AMU entrance exam.
- Candidates shortlisted for admissions shall be allocated only the main subject based on their performance in the Admission Test.
- The university will prepare a merit list and selected candidates will be required to appear for document verification round.
- Subsidiary subjects shall be allotted to candidates at the time of admissions, subject to the options available.
AMU BA Entrance Exam
- The Combined Entrance Test conducted by AMU for BA will carry 100 marks in total and objective-type questions divided into four sections.
- The exam duration will be 2 hours.
- The four sections according to their weightage will be
- English: 25 Marks
- General Awareness & Current Affairs: 40 Marks
- Reasoning & Intelligence: 10 Marks
- Indo-Islamic Culture & Aligarh Movement: 25 Marks
- Admit Cards for the ‘Admission Test’ can be collected from the Form handling Office 1-2 days prior the scheduled date of test. The exam centres are indicated on the admit card only.
How to Apply for AMU BA?

- Candidates should register online by filling in the activate email id, as the username and password will be sent to it.
- Candidates need to fill in all the basic details such as user name, email id, password, and name of the candidate.
- After registration, candidates need to fill in all the basic details as per the application form instructions like Name, Contact Number, Parent’s Name, Aadhar Number, DOB, Address, etc.
- Candidates need to upload the documents asked.
- Proceed to pay the application fee via NET Banking/ Debit/ Credit Card.
- Submit the application form.

AMU BA Program Details - Curriculum, Syllabus
Aligarh Muslim University offers BA program in 28 specializations under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The university also offers Foreign language courses to interested aspirants.

AMU BA Program Structure
- Attendance: AMU demands 70% attendance for BA candidates in each semester. Candidates whose attendance falls below 70% may not be permitted to appear for end term examinations.
- Reservation: Only the PwD candidates are offered 5% relaxation in qualifying marks and departmental tests. Such candidates are exempted from Tuition Fees/ Test Fees/ Processing Charges.
- Internal Assessments: Internal assessments are conducted during each semester. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their performance in internal assessments along with Assignments, Attendance, Class Participation and discussion, Group Works, etc.
- Semester End Examinations: Final evaluation is done on the basis of examinations conducted at the end of each semester. Candidates need to appear for both theory and practical papers. End Term Examinations will be of 70 Marks and Internal Assessments will be of 30 marks. Total in all 100 marks are allotted to each subject.
- Financial Assistance: AMU provides following scholarships to BA candidates based on their merit, eligibility and various other parameters:
- Aligarh Muslim University Saifi Education Trust Scholarships: Scholarships under this trust are provided to students of the university and alumni/ previous students studying in prestigious institutions in India based on their merit and financial background.
- UP Govt. Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students belonging to reserved category whose annual income is less than INR 2.5 LPA (INR 2.0 LPA in case of OBC, Minority and General) by the state government.

Ques: Is there direct admissions for AMU BA courses?
Ans. The Aligarh Muslim University conducts its admission process for Bachelor of Arts courses through the entrance exam process and direct admission process for distance learning. Whereas, AMU provides direct admission only for the BA LLB courses.
Ques: What are the points to remember while attending the AMU entrance exams?
Ans. The entrance exam of AMU is conducted offline therefore, candidates need to be very careful while ticking the OMR answer sheet. Only a ball pen (blue/black) is allowed in the examination hall. Whitener is prohibited in the examination hall and if it is found, the candidate will not be allowed to attend the exam.
