IIIT Allahabad PhD Eligibility Criteria

• A B.Tech candidate with minimum CGPA of 8.5 and who clears the requirements of the entrance process will be considered for admission to PhD for working professionals only
• For PhD admission in Management, candidates must have an MBA/ PGDM. An IT background is desirable.
• For PhD admission in Bioinformatics and Applied Sciences, candidates must have M.Tech. or M. Sc. (IT/ CS/ Bio-Tech./ Bioinformatics/ LifeSciences/ Statistics/ Mathematics/ Physics).
• Preferences may be given to the candidates who have cleared the GATE or GRE or other entrance exams.

Applicant should also meet the following criteria:

• For Candidates with B.Tech./ M.Tech./ B.Pharm./ M.Pharm. Degree Backgrounds – GATE or GRE score (not more than 4 years old on the cut off date for applications of PhD degree or UGC/ CSIR NET or JRF (as per the funding policy and for NET (not more than 2 years) is required.

• For Candidates with M.Sc./ MCA Backgrounds – GATE score (not more than 4 years old) or UGC/ CSIR NET or JRF/ INSPIRE Qualified Candidates for JRF purposes are required
• For Candidates with MBA/ M.Com. Background –CAT qualified or GMAT score (not more than 4 years old) or UGC/ CSIR NET or JRF Qualified Candidates are required.?

IIIT Allahabad PhD Selection Criteria 

Candidates for the PhD program have to undergo 2 stages: 

Stage-I: The online screening test in the relevant discipline. The syllabi for the test will be as per the GATE/ NET examination in the respective subjects. The test shall be of 90 minutes duration for 60 marks consisting of multiple-choice questions in the relevant discipline. The minimum qualifying marks for appearing in Stage-II will be 50% in the screening test. 

Stage-II: The candidates who qualify for Stage-II shall appear for interviews and presentations. The presentation should be brief and clear (around 5-10 minutes) highlighting the basic idea of the proposed research. The presentation must broadly include The topic/subject of the proposed research work. An outline containing an introduction to the subject, international/national importance, broad objectives, scope, and methodology of research work with relevant literature review. IIIT Allahabad PhD Admission Guidelines

• A PhD entrance exam is conducted at one or more places or online, once a year
• The score in the entrance exam is valid for 2 years enabling admission for the two subsequent admission years.
•  Candidates who have got above the cut-off will be called for an interview session, automatically for the first immediate year. For the second year, the candidate shall be required to make an explicit request to the Dean of the Institute. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the interview.
• Apart from the above methods, a workshop may be called for aptitude tests, or sponsored working professionals will be called upon directly for the interview
• And if a candidate possesses a CGPI of more than 8.0 from IITs/ IIITs/ IISERs/ and such institution of National importance then that candidate could be called for interaction/ interview session directly.

• The Application fee for PhD candidates is INR 500 for general category students and INR 250 for SC/ ST candidates.

IIIT Allahabad PhD Course Details
