IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITKGP], Kharagpur - Scholarship Details

IIT Kharagpur offers an array of scholarships for its students pursuing UG & PG Programs on a full-time basis. The faculty of the institute also offers research fundings & fellowships to meritorious students. Apart from scholarships, IIT KGP offers financial assistance to meet the expenses of accommodation, research, entrepreneurship, and international travel for various competitions. The scholarships offered by IIT Kharagpur have been broadly divided into many categories and some of them are mentioned below. 

Merit Cum Means Scholarship:

The Merit Cum Means Scholarship is awarded from the institute's funds to more than 1000 students on the basis of merits every year. The rules for the Merit Cum Means Scholarship are as follows. 

• Any student enrolled in any program offered by IIT Kharagpur are eligible for merit cum means scholarships except the students belonging from the SC/ST categories. 
• However, there's a certain limit for the Merit Cum Means Scholarship as it is not offered to more than 25% of the students enrolled in the UG & dual degree programs at IIT Kharagpur. 
• Also, a student is required to maintain a minimum GPA of 7.00 for subsequent renewals of the Merit Cum Means Scholarship in the two consecutive semesters.

Private Scholarships:

Apart from the Merit Cum Means Scholarships, the institute also offers various private scholarships to its students

B.P. Poddar Scholarships:

• The B.P. Poddar Scholarship is awarded to the best eligible students of the B.Tech/, B.Arch or Dual Degree Program securing the highest CGPA at the end of the semester.
• The award of the Scholarship is INR 1000 per month, which is payable for the consecutive 10 months. 

Kumud Manorama Scholarship:

• The Kumud Manorama Scholarship is awarded to the 3rd year students of the B.Tech program and dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering as per the academic performances of the students.
• A sum of INR 1000 is awarded per month in the Scholarship for the 10 months.

K.K. Agarwal Memorial Scholarship:

• The K.K. Agarwal Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the best eligible students of the final year of B.Tech/ Dual Degree programs in Agriculture and Food Engineering.
• The students receive a sum of INR 400 per month under this scheme of scholarship for consecutive 10 months.

Madan Sundar Sahu Lal Memorial Scholarship:

• The Scholarship is granted to the students of the 2nd or final year enrolled in the B.Tech or Dual degree programs on the basis of CGPA scored by the student in the 2nd semester of the program.
• Also, the students applying for Madan Sundar Sahu Lal Memorial Scholarship should have an annual family income of less than INR 2.5 lakhs.
• An amount of INR 2100 is given per month to the students as an award of the scholarship.

There are also other several options of financial assistance offered at IIT KGP apart from the above-mentioned scholarships that can be availed by the students to meet their tuition fee expenses.
