BIT Mesra BTech Eligibility Criteria

In order to get admission, the candidate must fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

The students need to secure a minimum of 60%marks in the 4 subjects, namely English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
The selection criteria is based on the NTA-JEE Mains entrance exam.
For the NRI/PIO/SFFS students, the minimum eligibility criteria is the marks obtained in class 12 or in any equivalent examination.

The candidates must've passed the diplomas with at least 60% marks (55% for SC / ST / PwD) in relevant branches of Engineering and Technology
or
They must’ve Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 60% marks (55% for SC / ST / PwD) and passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as a subject with overall first division.
The students who belong to B.Sc. Streams are required to clear the subjects Engineering Graphics/ Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics (or equivalent subject offered by the University) of the First Year Engineering Program along with the Second Year subjects.

BIT Mesra BTech Admission 2024

Admissions to the BTech course are based on the JEE Main examination. The pattern is mentioned below:

JEE Mains is a computer-based exam, which consists of three sections.
The sections are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each of these sections consists of 25 questions each, totalling to 75 questions.
The question type is Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Based Questions.
The total marks are 300, where 1 mark gets deducted per wrong answer, 4 marks are awarded per right answer and no mark gets reduced for each unanswered question.

Is there any fee discount for SC/ST in BIT Mesra for B.Tech?

There is no fee discount offered exclusively to SC/ST candidates of B.E. at BIT Mesra. However, you may get some discount on the first-semester fee, which is available for students of all castes and depends upon their ranks.

BIT Mesra and its other branches (Ranchi, Patna, Deoghar, and Jaipur) do offer scholarships to students based on their GPA and their performance each semester.

To become eligible for the scholarship, you have to score more than or equal to 8 GPA in your semesters. The scholarship is not caste-based and is open to every deserving student. With the benefit of this scholarship, if you perform well in a semester, some percentage of your fee will be credited back into your bank account. This is the scholarship criteria-

8 GPA - 20% scholarship
8.5 GPA - 50% scholarship
9 GPA - 75% scholarship
9.5 GPA - 100% scholarship (you won’t be charged for your hostel and mess. All the money paid by you will be credited to your bank account)

Thus, students of all social backgrounds can avail the benefit of fee deduction if they score very good grades during each semester of their B.E. at BIT Mesra and its other campuses through this scholarship system.

Is BIT Mesra's fee structure similar to a NIT's fee structure?

BIT Mesra's fee structure in 2023 is nowhere comparable to that of NIT. BIT is a private engineering college and obviously charges higher fees than a government college like NIT.

Here is the detailed fees structure of BIT Mesra BTech:

Additionally, the amount to be paid at the time of admission is INR 82700. The Hostel Fees are extra and payable during registration for each semester

The fees for NITs are quite less compared to BIT Mesra. For instance, NIT Trichy's first-semester fee is only Rs. 62,500.
