BITS Pilani ME Admission Criteria

Admission to all ME/ ME courses (except Software systems) is made on the basis of marks obtained in the BITS HD admission test or based on GATE / GPAT score. Admission to M.E. in Software Systems will be through the BITS HD test only. Two separate merit lists will be prepared; one based on GATE score, and the other based on BITS HD test. 50% of the seats will be filled through GATE/GPAT scores and other 50% by BITS HD test marks.

BITS HD admission test is a computer based online test. The test consists of objective type questions. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark.

BITS Pilani ME Entrance Exam Pattern

BITS Pilani conducts two types of test for ME applicants. Test 1 is compulsory for all students who are applying for any of the Higher Degree (HD) programs. Test II is for all Higher Degree programs except for ME in Sanitation Science, Technology and Management, and Software systems. For these 3 courses, separate tests of 60 minutes duration with 50 questions are conducted.

Scholarships for Higher Degree BITS Pilani Programs

Merit in Qualifying Examination- Students who have obtained aggregate marks of 75% or above in the Qualifying Examination (B.E./B.Tech) are given a merit scholarship of 20% of first semester tuition fee.
Students who are UAE Nationals -Will be offered 50% tuition fee scholarship for the duration of the programme based on their performance in the qualifying exam and continuity of certain minimum performance during the programme.
BITS Alumni, employees of Collaborative Organizations and Siblings/Parents of continuing students will be offered a 10% concession on the tuition fee, during the normal duration of the programme.
Merit Scholarship for continuing students- All Students with a CGPA of 9.00 or above on a 10.00 point scale at the end of a previous semester are given a merit scholarship of 20% of tuition fee for the current semester
Hostel Fee Concession- Higher degree students who have obtained aggregate marks of 80% or above in the Qualifying Examination (B.E./B.Tech) are given a concession of 25% on the hostel fee for the normal duration of the program.

BITS Pilani ME Application Process

Apply online through official website.
While filling the application form online, candidates are required to give preferences to programmes which they wish to apply for.
While applying online the candidate has to opt for one of the following:
- Consideration for admission only on the basis of GATE/GPAT score.
- Consideration only on the basis of marks obtained in the BITS HD online test.
- Consideration on the basis of both GATE score and marks obtained in the BITS HD online test.
For admission through GATE/GPAT, enter details of GATE/GPAT score, year of examination, All India Rank if applicable and Registration/Roll Number.
