University of Guelph Scholarships: Benefits, Eligibility & Application Process

The University of Guelph offers a range of financial aid programs for international students, including scholarships, bursaries, and Work-Study. Through these programs, the University awards:

• 1.6 CAD million to undergraduate international students
• 3.7 CAD million to graduate international students

Internationalism is a big part of the University of Guelph community, and they have a huge number of scholarship programs to support students paying international fees who have demonstrated academic excellence.

A limited number of renewable international scholarships ranging in total values from 17,500 CAD to 20,500 CAD are available to international students who have not attended post-secondary studies and are entering the University of Guelph in September.

University of Guelph Scholarships for Undergraduate Programs

The University of Guelph offers a number of international entrance scholarships for UG programs. These entrance scholarships awards range between 5,500 CAD to 8,500 CAD and are given to students that demonstrate one or more of the following:

• Academic excellence - minimum admission average of 85.0% or equivalent
• Leadership abilities
• Extra-curricular involvement

Applicants don’t need to separately apply for these scholarships. They must complete the admission process by March 1, 2021, to be considered.

Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President's Scholarship:

It is one of the most prestigious undergraduate scholarships for the incoming international students of the University of Guelph. It is awarded to students with outstanding academic achievements and leadership skills, and who have demonstrated significant contributions towards the welfare of their school and communities.

Every year one scholarship of value 42,000 CAD is awarded along with a research assistantship position and mentorship by a professor of the university.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Admission Average equivalent to 90% Canadian curriculum.
• Not previously attended a post-secondary institution.

Applicants must complete the online application by January 25, 2021. They are also requested to submit their Reference Letters by February 1, 2021.

International Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships:

The International Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship is awarded to incoming international students who are registering in the first semester of an undergraduate degree program.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Incoming students must register for both the fall and winter semesters in year 1.
• Must pay full-time International student tuition and fees.

For renewal of scholarship recipients must:

• Remain registered in full-time studies.
• Achieve a minimum 80.0% average in their previous academic year of full-time study.

Applicants must complete their Admission Application and apply for their scholarship application to their University of Guelph student account in two equal payments over the fall and winter semesters.

University of Guelph Undergraduate In-course Funding

The University of Guelph offers more than 3.5 CAD million in-course, need-based awards ranging in value from 500 to 50,000 CAD.

An undergraduate student typically applies for financial aid in the fall semester each year and the bursary or scholarship is awarded to their student’s account as a credit amount towards their winter semester fees. • Minimum Grade of 75% in their previous studies
• Have completed between 10.0 to 12.0 credits

Bursaries:

The University of Guelph offers a number of in-course bursaries to assist international students who are facing financial hardships. Students can receive one bursary per academic year.

University of Guelph Scholarships for Postgraduate Programs

The University of Guelph offers a wide range of entrance as well as in-course scholarships for international students studying a PG program.

The entrance awards are offered to students upon admission to a graduate program and are based on the student's admission application and their exceptional intellectual ability and academic accomplishment. Leadership skills, community presence, and long-term goals are also considered while selecting recipients for masters and doctoral scholarships.

University of Guelph Bursaries for Postgraduate Programs

The University of Guelph provides support to international graduate students who are faced with unexpected, or unforeseen financial shortfalls while registered on campus. The University of Guelph offers both entrances as well as in-course bursaries.

To apply for these scholarships, applicants must complete the International Graduate Student Financial Need Assessment Form (NAF) and submit it to the International Student Advisor.

Graduate Entrance Bursaries are offered to students upon admission to one of their graduate programs and are based on the student's admission application.

These bursaries range from 1,000 CAD to 5,000 CAD.

Applicants are requested to complete the Registrar's Entrance Bursary application by March 1, 2021.

Graduate In-Course Bursaries provide assistance in the Fall 2020 and/or Winter 2021 semester(s) to returning international students with the cost of their tuition.

These bursaries are valued at up to 1,250 CAD per semester and the amount awarded to each student will be determined based on an evaluation and review of the financial shortfall indicated on the Financial Need Assessment Form.

• Peggy A. Pritchard and Dr. Andrew M. Kropinski Graduate Bursary

This bursary is awarded to in-course international students who demonstrate financial need. Selection preference will be given to female students.

Recipients will be awarded 2000 CAD.

• University of Guelph International Student Bursary

University of Guelph International Student Bursary is for continuing students registered in any graduate program and have completed a minimum of three semesters and have demonstrated financial need.

The value of this bursary varies depending on different programs.

The application must be submitted by November 1 for the fall semester; March 1 for the winter semester, and July 2 for the summer semester.

• Norma Valeriote International Student Bursaries

The Norma Valeriote International Student Bursaries are awarded to International students registered in any graduate program beyond class level 3 with demonstrated financial need. The value of this bursary varies depending on different programs.
