GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) Exam Pattern
Exam Pattern for GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) for the year 2023 should be known to all the candidates applying for this Exam. Some important features of the Exam Pattern are given below.
Question Paper is of 100 marks having 65 questions (10 questions of General Aptitude, 11 questions of Engineering Mathematics, rest questions from core parts of the paper). The Question Paper includes two types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NATs).
Duration of the exam is 3 Hours. For MCQs, â…“ marks will be deducted for 1 marks questions, ½ marks will be deducted for 2 marks questions. There will be no negative marking for NATs.

Candidates must follow below eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must qualify education according to 10+2+3 allowing final year UG students to appear for the exam.
- Candidates having Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology will be considered eligible.
