GATE 2016 Mathematics (MA) Paper Analysis

  • This year, the conducting body (IISc, Bangalore) introduced two sections, that is, multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type (NAT). The questions were for 1- mark and 2 marks accordingly.
  • The question paper consisted of 65 questions for overall 100 marks. 10 of the 65 Questions were related to General Aptitude.
  • The NAT questions comes with zero negative marking.
  • Only wrong attempted questions (MCQs) would carry negative marking of 0.33 or 0.66 for 1- mark question and 2 marks question respectively.
  • GATE 2016 MA cut-off stood at 25 for General, 22.50 for OBC, 16.60 for SC/ST/PWD out of 100.
