GATE Metallurgical Engineering Question Papers and Answer Key PDFs are available to download. GATE 2016 MT paper was conducted by IISc, Bangalore on February 7, 2016 in the Forenoon Session (9 AM to 12 PM). The overall difficulty level of the exam stood at average to difficult. General Aptitude had a weightage of 10% of the overall marks and was easy to attempt.

GATE 2016 MT Paper Analysis

  • This year, the conducting body (IISc, Bangalore) introduced two sections, that is, multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type (NAT). The questions were for 1- mark and 2 marks accordingly.
  • The question paper consisted of 65 questions for overall 100 marks. 10 of the 65 Questions were related to General Aptitude.
  • The NAT questions attracts zero marks for wrongly answered questions.
  • Only wrong attempted questions (MCQs) would carry negative marking of 0.33 or 0.66 for 1- mark question and 2 marks question respectively.
  • GATE 2016 MT cut-off stood at 42.1 for General, 36 for OBC, 27.8 for SC/ST/PWD out of 100.
