Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has released the detailed paper pattern of GATE Humanities and Social Science (XH) paper. According to the official notice, GATE XH Paper consists of General Aptitude (GA) and Reasoning Comprehension (B1) as compulsory sections and one section to opt from the list of six subjects.

Aspirants will be allowed to select any one of the subjects from English, Philosophy, Economics, Linguistics, Psychology, and Sociology depending on their qualifying degree.

GATE 2021 is not just for engineers only, students from humanities background will also be eligible to appear for the test. Aspirants will also have the option to appear for two subjects from this year onwards.

With the introduction of the two new subjects- Humanities and Social Science (XH) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) , the total subjects has increased to 27. Check GATE 2021 Syllabus

Students who are in their pre-final year of undergraduate degree program are eligible to apply for the GATE XH exam.

GATE 2021 has opened opportunities for non-science students as the optional papers are from Arts and Commerce students.

Also, Students having passed or studying the course in any optional subject can apply for GATE XH 2021 Exam.

The selection of optional subjects has to be done as per the qualifying degree specialization. However, there are no age criteria for appearing in the GATE XH 2021 Exam.
